Take Five Edmonton Events: Dance to the sweet music at the Oilers playoff parties

Article content Oilers Tailgate Party: It's playoff time with a number of musical crossovers, including at the arena-adjacent Fan Park and Tailgate Party if you want to dance a little in between biting those nails! Article content South of the rink, north of the Bob and Doug statue, DJ DJ Alize will be hosting the official Tailgate Party from a balcony at the tip of the arena overlooking the crowd, spinning tunes when appropriate. Article content Over at the Fan Park east of Rogers Place where Shania Twain and OLP played last year, Oil Kings DJ Post Meridian will be entertaining that crowd, so take your pick — but do arrive early. Article content And of course, the Oilers Drum and Brass Crew tends to rove around, so keep an ear out for them … pretty hard to miss, really. Article content If you didn't know this already, you can also usually watch away games inside the rink for $10, net proceeds after costs heading to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation. Article content Details: 5 p.m. Friday, 4:30 p.m. Sunday south and east of Rogers Place, free Article content Hockey pubs: One of the great things about being in another Canadian city as the playoffs churn is you can usually find a bar that's playing the Oilers, and even up at North Country Fair people gather in the tool shed! Article content As for seeing the games in town right now, here's a few personal favourites in the core as the fever builds. Article content If you can get on the patio at The Pint (10125 109 St.), this is one of the best places to feel the mayhem as the hockey-stick adorned vehicles honk up and down 109 Street looking for love — this is of course true for any Jasper Avenue and Whyte Avenue spot with open-air seating, so have your pick. Article content Article content Sherlock Holmes downtown (10012 101A Ave.) has a great, dog-friendly patio and is close to the action when we win — and, musically, pub favourite Alex McKinnon will be playing between periods as the game takes precedence (but also Saturday night). They're also doing ticket draws for every home game, so pop by. Article content Right at the edge of the Ice District with no less than 11 TVs, the new O'Byrnes at 10235 101 St. has DJ UKNWHO and DJ Medzo spinning in rotation post games, with more ticket draws happening here as well. Article content Of course, drink specials are rampant everywhere and every local appreciates your patronage — please don't forget to tip your servers well after you screamed at referees all night!
