Two charged with prostitution at Plainfield spa
Plainfield — Police arrested two women and seized several hundred dollars of alleged prostitution proceeds following an undercover investigation at a local business.
Fang Wang, 38, of Whitestone, N.Y., was charged with prostitution, and Liu Fangfang, 39, also of Whitestone, N.Y., was charged with conspiracy to commit prostitution Monday after officers executed a search warrant at the Wellness Spa on 26 Railroad Ave.
During the search, police said detectives and state police, with the assistance of a currency-detection K9, seized $811 and 'items of evidentiary value consistent with sexual activity.' The money, which police classified as prostitution proceeds, was found in 'different secreted areas' in the business, according to the department.
Police said detectives launched an investigation into the business this month after the department 'received multiple complaints from concerned citizens regarding allegations of illegal sexual activities.'
Police said the investigation included extensive surveillance and undercover operations.
According to police, Wang and Fangfang received translation services from a state trooper during processing and post-Miranda interviews. The women were released on $1,000 bonds and are scheduled to appear at Danielson Superior Court on April 7.
