Family to sue Nissan Navara driver after parents injured in crash
KUALA LUMPUR: A family whose parents suffered serious injuries in a recent road accident are planning to take legal action against the driver of the Nissan Navara vehicle.
Farah Natasya Faizal, 25, said that her family wants justice for her parents, according to Kosmo!.
Farah Natasya said that her 49-year-old mother, Suhailiza Shamsuddin, is still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while her father Faizal Mat, 53, was discharged yesterday.
"We will not remain silent and will demand justice. Currently, we are obtaining documents including evidence and witnesses in this case.
"We will also take action against the police report made by the driver, who alleged that the motorcycle rode by my parents entered the next lane before being suddenly struck," she said.
The 32-year-old man was sentenced to 30 days in prison by the magistrates' court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to reckless driving.
On May 10, the couple were riding their motorcycle in the far-left lane when a four-wheel drive vehicle suddenly overtook them.
The vehicle reportedly crashed into the victims' motorcycle and fled the scene without stopping after the collision.
As a result of the crash, the couple were thrown onto the road and sustained serious injuries.
Farah Natasya also said her mother remained in critical condition and was unconscious.
"For my father, the wound on his leg must be monitored very closely because he suffers from diabetes. I'm worried that it may only get worse.
"My mother was healthy before this. When I see her in her current state, it really makes me upset," she said.
