Columbus dispensary issued product alert for 'edible glitter' in cannabis gummies

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A local cannabis dispensary is one of nine Ohio businesses to issue a product alert of one of its edible gummies. According to the Division of Cannabis Control, a product alert was issued on one lot of cannabis-infused edible gummies produced by the processor Farmaceutical RX, LLC under the Local Edibles Ohio brand. Of the nine Ohio stores listed that carries the affected product, BCR Retail Grandview LLC on Grandview Avenue in Columbus was the lone business located in central Ohio. The processor reportedly used an ingredient called 'edible glitter' that was not disclosed on the product label, nor in the product item registration within the state inventory tracking system. The processor was also unable to provide evidence that the ingredient was obtained from a licensed and regulated source. 12 things to do this weekend around Columbus and central Ohio for May 2-4, 2025 The ODCC said edible glitter, like other non-marijuana ingredients, may be permissible to use as an ingredient under some circumstances provided it is disclosed and properly sourced from a licensed and regulated entity. Because the ingredient does not reasonably present a health hazard, it was deemed appropriate to issue a product alert only, and not a product recall. Farmaceutical RX has pulled all affected products off dispensary shelves. The DCC recommends that patients and consumers refrain from consuming the affected product, and either discard the remainder or return it to the dispensary of purchase for refund. If it matches, (consumers) are urged to discontinue use and either dispose of the remaining product or return it to the dispensary of purchase for proper disposal and refund.
