Intra-Islamic Dialogue.. Seminar at Abu Dhabi International Book Fair

Mohamed Mandour As part of its cultural and intellectual activities at the 34th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, the Muslim Council of Elders organized a seminar titled 'Intra-Islamic Dialogue: One Nation and One Shared Destiny.' The seminar was presented by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Haddad, member of the Muslim Council of Elders, Senior Mufti and Director of the Fatwa Department in Dubai, and member of the UAE Fatwa Council. At the outset of the seminar, Dr. Al-Haddad emphasized that the unity of the Muslim Ummah is a fundamental pillar for achieving peace and stability. He pointed out that division and fragmentation open the doors to destruction, strife, and intellectual invasion. He clarified that the unity of the Muslim Ummah is a divine mandate outlined in the Glorious Quran and advocated by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), where Allah Almighty commands the believers to hold fast to His rope and not be divided, as stated in the verse: 'And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.' (The Quran, 3:103). Dr. Al-Haddad added that since its establishment, the Muslim Council of Elders has been keen on building bridges of dialogue among various religions and cultures. One of its most prominent milestones was the signing of the 'Document on Human Fraternity,' in Abu Dhabi, in 2019 by Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and His Holiness Pope Francis, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. This event represented a historic moment that advanced the concept of coexistence and global peace. He explained that after the Council's success in extending bridges of dialogue with followers of other religions, it found an urgent need to focus on intra-Islamic dialogue due to the sectarian differences and divisions that have weakened the Ummah and led to its fragmentation. He confirmed that the call for internal unity has become a religious duty and a collective responsibility. He noted that the Bahrain Conference on Intra-Islamic Dialogue represented a qualitative leap in this direction, as it called for the unity of Muslims under the 'Call for the People of Qiblah,' a charter launched by the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, advocating for it to be a cornerstone for Islamic constants and joint collective action. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Lifestyle Pistachio and Raspberry Cheesecake Domes Recipe News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Videos & Features Bouchra Dahlab Crowned Miss Arab World 2025 .. Al-Haddad: Islam Promotes Comprehensive Citizenship, Love of One's Homeland

Mohamed Mandour Dr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Haddad, Member of the Muslim Council of Elders, Member of the UAE Fatwa Council, Senior Mufti, and Director of the Fatwa Department in Dubai, affirmed that Islam came to promote citizenship in its comprehensive sense—one that is based on harmony and cooperation among all members of society to achieve social cohesion and mutual support in times of need. This, he noted, was exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) upon his arrival in Madinah, where he promptly laid the foundations of citizenship among the people of the city through what is known as the Charter of Madinah. The Charter preserved the rights of all citizens—regardless of their religion or tribal affiliation—including the tribes of Aws and Khazraj, as well as the emigrants. His Eminence made these remarks during the ninth episode of the Ramadan program Human Values with the Elders, which is broadcast on the official social media accounts of the Muslim Council of Elders. He emphasized that every member of a nation bears the responsibility of protecting and defending their homeland against anyone who seeks to harm it, so that society may remain safe and secure, where people support and protect one another. He noted that the saying 'Love of one's homeland is part of faith' reflects this principle, as true faith and Islam are not complete without a sense of peace and stability. If fear overwhelms a person—whether for their life, wealth, or family—they will be unable to properly fulfill their religious and social obligations. Therefore, every individual must live in peace and security in their homeland and serve as a faithful guardian of it, just as they would protect themselves. Dr. Al-Haddad added that this sense of responsibility must stem from a deeply rooted psychological conviction before it becomes a legal obligation. Without such inner conviction, a person may remain indifferent to the loss or destruction of their homeland. This has been a recurring and observable reality throughout the history of the Muslim world, both past and present—homelands have only been compromised when national consciousness was absent. Almighty God offers a powerful example in the Glorious Quran of the consequences of both national stability and decline, as He says: 'And Allah presents an example: a city which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allah. So Allah made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing.' (The Quran, 16:112) This, Dr. Al-Haddad said, is a vivid and divine warning to those who endanger the safety and security of their nations. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Lifestyle Pistachio and Raspberry Cheesecake Domes Recipe Videos & Features Bouchra Dahlab Crowned Miss Arab World 2025 .. Al-Haddad: Dialogue Is Only Path to Uniting Muslim Ummah

Mohamed Mandour Dr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Haddad, Member of the Muslim Council of Elders, Member of the UAE Fatwa Council, Senior Mufti and Director of the Fatwa Department in Dubai, affirmed that Islam is a religion that encourages dialogue and engagement, both with those who agree and those who disagree. Dialogue is the only means to understanding others, which is why it has been a fundamental pillar of Islamic preaching. Allah Almighty commanded His Prophet (PBUH): 'Invite all to the way of your Lord with wisdom and kind advice, and debate with them in the best manner.' (The Quran, 16:125) Argumentation here refers to dialogue, which the Prophet (PBUH) practiced throughout his mission—whether with his own people or with those he invited to the path of Allah. Allah Almighty recounts his words: 'Say, 'O Prophet,' 'O People of the Book! Let us come to common terms: that we will worship none but Allah, associate none with Him, nor take one another as lords instead of Allah.' But if they turn away, then say, 'Bear witness that we have submitted 'to Allah alone'.' (The Quran, 3:64) Dr. Al Haddad, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders, added that just as the Prophet (PBUH) addressed the People of the Book with such wisdom, so too did all the prophets (peace be upon them). Every prophet engaged his people in gracious dialogue to guide them toward the truth revealed by Allah and to lead them to the straight path.
