FedEx and Operation Warm Join Forces To Support the Student Community in Carolina
NORTHAMPTON, MA / / May 14, 2025 / On the morning of Thursday, April 10, FedEx Puerto Rico employees teamed up with the nonprofit organization Operation Warm to deliver 330 pairs of brand-new shoes to children at Jesús María Sanromá Public School in Carolina. The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on families in the community while promoting the health and well-being of students through play and outdoor activities. Delivering Hope: FedEx Steps Up for Families Affected by Wildfires
NORTHAMPTON, MA / / May 12, 2025 / April 17th marked the 52nd anniversary of FedEx, but it also signified 100 days since the California wildfires. To commemorate both occasions, FedEx volunteers from across the Los Angeles area collaborated with Feed the Children, World Central Kitchen, and the local nonprofit Watchitgrow Inc. to directly assist 400 families affected by the fires. The event was held in Altadena, a community where many impacted residents lived in generational family homes, a significant number of which were uninsured. Throughout the day, the FedEx team dedicated their time to uplifting others by engaging with families and loading essential supplies into their vehicles. Each family received a shelf-stable meal kit/box designed to feed a family of four for five days, along with household necessities, Avon beauty products, and books. Additionally, a special product donation from Mattel, a Feed the Children supporter and FedEx customer, provided backpacks filled with children's items, including Barbies and Hot Wheels. Before departing the distribution site, families were offered a hot meal courtesy of World Central Kitchen, as well as a $100 meal voucher for a local restaurant. The community deeply appreciated the ongoing support. One recipient shared, "We were running out of food since we were victims of the Eaton Fire; [these] boxes of food and essentials [have] been a blessing." Another individual expressed their gratitude to FedEx and the nonprofits, stating, "Our house burned and we had no insurance. With the help we received, we can save to rebuild." Furthermore, the FedEx LA team worked with Operation Warm to deliver over 600 brand new shoes to students at Jackson Elementary in Altadena also impacted by the wildfires. From Shadows to Sanctuary: The Journey of Resilient Animals
Beneath the warm Mexican sun, the Invictus Foundation worked tirelessly to provide life-saving care to animals in desperate need. Among them were Simba and Hunter, two fragile lion cubs whose early lives were marked by severe malnutrition and neurological challenges, leaving their bodies weak and compromised. Nearby, Nala and Apollo, another pair of lion cubs, struggled with severe health issues that required specialized attention from the moment they were born. Pakal, a resilient puma, bore the worst physical scars of this group, enduring catastrophic injuries to his pelvis, spine, and skull. Sheerkan and Corachi, two young tigers, carried visible reminders of their harrowing pasts. Sheerkan's body told a story of unimaginable suffering, with a broken hip and fractures in all four legs. Balam and Bagheera, two striking jaguars, were left weakened by malnutrition and plagued with severe dental issues. The smallest of the group, Luna and Rufla, two frail bobcats, faced chronic kidney damage caused by prolonged dehydration and starvation. In the face of such immense need, the Invictus Foundation, steadfast in its mission to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife, turned to The Wild Animal Sanctuary (TWAS) in Colorado. As the world's largest carnivore sanctuary with 33,000 acres dedicated for animal sanctuary, TWAS offers unparalleled intensive veterinary care and expansive, natural habitats where animals can finally heal and thrive. In an extraordinary collaboration, FedEx joined the mission, making it possible for these 11 remarkable survivors to reach their new home safely. Under the banner of its 'Delivering for Good' initiative, FedEx leveraged its global logistics expertise to transport the animals and their dedicated care team from Toluca, Mexico, to Denver, Colorado. As the FedEx plane took off, carefully carrying the animals toward a future filled with hope and security, the team at the Invictus Foundation felt a wave of relief knowing that upon arrival these animals would be embraced by the remarkable animal care team at The Wild Animal Sanctuary. Thanks to this monumental partnership, Simba, Hunter, and their companions were embarking on a journey toward a life they had never known—one defined by compassion, care, and the freedom to simply be.
