Conor McGregor is in 'serious talks' for £6billion purchase of adult subscription-based website OnlyFans

Conor McGregor is in 'serious talks' to purchase the racy subscription-based platform OnlyFans. According to Reuters, owner Leonid Radvinsky is in talks to sell the porn-centric website to Los Angeles-based investment firm Forest Road Company but the former UFC champion has now thrown his hat in the ring for the whopping £6billion purchase. The 36-year-old shared a report claiming that he is in 'serious talks' to acquire the company that saw its popularity and valuation skyrocket during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ukrainian-American businessman Radvinsky made a fortune as the founder of adult webcamming website MyFreeCams, which launched in 2004. In 2018, he bought a 75 percent stake in OnlyFans' parent company Fenix International Ltd. from its British founders Tim Stokely and his dad Guy Stokely. McGregor, meanwhile, has substantially grown his wealth through wise investments throughout his combat career and especially since his last appearance in the Octagon in 2021. According to Forbes, the Irishman has a net worth around £31m but other reports put it in the region of £150m. McGregor has been the face of Proper 12 whiskey and Forged Irish Stout, appearing in advertisements and promotional material across a host of platforms, with the Proper 12 whiskey brand named after McGregor's home postal district in Dublin. The Proper 12 Irish Whiskey brand was first launched back in 2018 by McGregor, with the fighter and his team eventually selling the brand for a reported sale price of roughly £500 million. McGregor himself pocketed an estimated £120 million in the deal when selling his majority stake, but has remained a prominent promoter of the whiskey since its 2021 acquisition by Proximo Spirits. The former two-division UFC champion also currently owns a business empire in his native Ireland which boasts the popular Dublin pub The Blackforge Inn as its public-facing crown. McGregor has spent an estimated £2.5 million purchasing and renovating the venue on Dublin's Longmile Road which has become the social media backdrop for the fighter's online promoting of both Proper 12 whiskey and Forged Irish Stout. While OnlyFans hosts all kinds of creators, it's largely known for its pornographic content. Several years ago, the site started pushing PG-rated content on their safe-for-work streaming platform, OFTV. OnlyFans has put in extra effort to promote everything from cooking videos to celebrity comedy specials and reality shows on OFTV, following growing criticism and a 'porn' stigma around the platform. All the content on OFTV comes from OnlyFans creators, but unlike the actual OnlyFans platform, no nudity or pornography is allowed. OFTV has brought over a number of celebrity creators to do less risqué content, most notably American comedian and podcaster Whitney Cummings. Last year, the CEO of OnlyFans revealed that the company has paid out $20 billion to its creators since its inception in 2016.

Porn-driven OnlyFans could sell for billions despite ‘filth factor'

London-based OnlyFans is reportedly in discussions to sell for as much as $8 billion (€7bn), Reuters has reported, citing unnamed sources. The internet content service, widely known for being popular with sex workers, despite hosting other content creators, including musicians and comedians as well, has been in talks about a deal since March with US-based investment firm Forest Road Company. However, the New York Post has also reported that the firm is struggling to find a buyer. The newspaper also cited unnamed sources, saying: 'You're looking to find billionaires and trying to sell it as not an adult content company but just a platform like X that allows adult content,' the source said. 'But I think most people right now view OnlyFans as an adult content company.' Despite the good profits generated by OnlyFans, the 'filth factor' limits the price tag, to a relatively modest three to five times EBITDA, a financial indicator of the earnings of a company. The value of OnlyFans is somewhere between $1.46bn and $2.42bn (€1.29bn and €2.14bn), the newspaper reported. Related OnlyFans faces probe over claims children could access adult content From porn to aviation: Millionaire OnlyFans co-founder aims to fly high with new business venture OnlyFans is currently owned by Fenix International Ltd, and the sole shareholder is Ukrainian-American Leonid Radvinsky. He bought the company in 2018 and has paid himself at least $1 billion in dividends over the past three years, British filings showed. The company's revenue has been growing. In the year ended November 2023, the company generated $485 million (€428m) in profits and $6.6bn (€5.82bn) in revenues. OnlyFans charges 20% from its 4 million creators, who make content for 300 million subscribers. Despite the news reports about the company struggling to sell and the fact that it is out of touch for banks to invest in due to its x-rated content, Reuters said that Fenix International Ltd is also in talks with other potential suitors and that an initial public offering, selling the company's shares on a stock market, is also being considered. According to unnamed sources, the company could reach a deal in the next week or two. OnlyFans did not immediately respond to Euronews Business's request for comment.

OnlyFans owner 'in talks' to sell racy website for staggering amount

OnlyFans owner Leonid Radvinsky is set to sell the racy subscription-based platform for a whopping $8 billion. According to Reuters and Variety, Radvinsky is in talks to sell the porn-centric website to Los Angeles-based investment firm Forest Road Company. The Forest Road Company already boasts a variety of investments in the entertainment industry. 'The talks with the Forest Road-led group are not exclusive and there's no timeline for when a deal might be consummated,' Variety reports. The platform ended up exploding during the Covid-19 pandemic, and in 2022, Radvinsky made Forbes' list of Jewish billionaires. Cummings joined the site in 2022 so she could post some of her edgier jokes behind a paywall without being 'taken out of context' on more mainstream social media apps. 'I know people like to make fun of [OnlyFans] because there are naked ladies on there. I just decided, if the audience is going here, as a comedian there's something worth checking out here,' she told Variety last year. She added: 'I wouldn't have the self-esteem to charge people to see my naked body. Instead of dirty photos, you're gonna see dirty jokes.' Other mainstream names on OFTV include fashion designer Elena Velez, comedian Brittany Schmitt, and reality star Heidi Montag, who released a music video on the platform. Last year, the CEO of OnlyFans revealed that the company has paid out $20 billion to its creators since its inception in 2016. CEO Keily Blair was speaking at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles when she revealed the incredible figure. 'Porn is free on the internet. I think the reason why people pay for OnlyFans is because they want to engage with those particular creators,' Blair said. 'It's because of the ability to customize as well as to ask for a specific content.' She continued, 'Everyone assumes it's sexy content. Some of it sexy content and we're very happy with that, we're an inclusive platform, and we're that way for a reason. 'We believe it's very important for adult content creators to have a safe space, to be able to monetize and also to be able to do that alongside other content creators. 'We're all adults, we're all grownups, we can all choose what content we subscribe to.'

OnlyFans owner in talks to sell UK-based adult content platform for £5.9bn

The owner of OnlyFans, the subscription platform used by millions for its adult content, is in talks to sell the UK-based business for $8bn (£5.9bn). The site's owner, Fenix International, is in discussions with a consortium led by the US investment firm Forest Road Company (FRC), whose board members include Kevin Mayer, who was an executive at Disney for nearly 15 years and also briefly ran TikTok. Fenix is owned by Leonid Radvinsky, a 43-year-old Ukrainian-American entrepreneur, who has received dividends of just under $1.3bn from the highly profitable site since 2020. OnlyFans has more than 4m accounts registered to creators who charge subscribers for access to their content, with the proceeds split 80/20 with the platform. The site has 305m fan accounts, enabling users to buy videos from, and send messages to, their favourite performers. Although OnlyFans points to a breadth of content that includes comedy, lifestyle and celebrity material, it is synonymous with pornography and has a strict 18+ age limit. In its most recent accounts, OnlyFans posted revenues of $1.3bn in the year to 30 November 2023, an increase of 20% on the previous year, while its pre-tax profit rose by a quarter to $658m. The number of creator accounts and fan accounts each grew by nearly 30% and content creators received $6.6bn in 2023. At the time, Keily Blair, the chief executive of OnlyFans, said the company had cemented its place as a 'leading digital entertainment company and a UK tech success story'. OnlyFans declined to comment and FRC has been contacted for comment. Fenix is also in talks with other suitors, according to Reuters, which first revealed the takeover talks. It is also understood that a flotation of the platform is an unlikely option. Little is known about Odesa-born Radvinsky, although his personal website states that he holds a degree in economics from Northwestern University in the US and he lives in Florida. Before acquiring OnlyFans he owned an adult webcam business. In March the UK communications regulator fined Fenix £1m for failing to accurately respond to requests for information about age-checking measures on the platform, specifically facial estimation technology that gauges a user's age via a selfie. Ofcom said Fenix was a large, well-resourced company that was 'well aware of its regulatory obligations' and should have avoided its failings.
