Ammanford Wildboars Centurions cricket team pull off win
Ammanford's Wildboar Centurions put their best foot forward to topple Briton Ferry Town Steel in a division six clash.
The game, delayed due to damp conditions, was reduced to 32 overs per side, with Ammanford opting to bat first.
Opener Jonathan Edwards played a patient 28-run knock before being dismissed, contributing to the team's competitive total of 172.
The run rate was accelerated by skipper Gareth Thomas, who showcased his control over the game with his notable 42.
The innings was finished with a flourish by Steff Williams, who scored an unbeaten 21 thanks to his mature approach.
The bowling attack was equally commendable, spearheaded by a 'curve-ball' decision from Thomas to open with spinner Edwards alongside Jason Rosser.
Rosser and Edwards kept Ferry's batsmen in check ensuring the team was soon behind the required run rate.
Thomas and Carwyn Morris never let the opposition gain momentum, while Owen Mander spectacularly concluded the tail, finishing with 4-4.
The fielders and Richard Dunn behind the stumps provided excellent support.
This thrilling victory has put Ammanford firmly in the competition in the highly competitive division.
