Fans let rip as Snoop Dogg AFL grand final rumour goes viral

As the AFL season races to the pointy end, multiple reports are suggesting controversial US rapper Snoop Dogg will be the headline act on grand final day. In fact, AFL great Brendan Fevola said 'I can tell you 100 per cent' that Snoop Dogg — 'a bloke who's been banned from the country' — will be appearing at the AFL's showpiece event. And 3AW host Ross Stevenson also said it had has 'been suggested' to him that the 53-year-old rapper was the chosen one, along with Dr Dre. As the story went viral, fans reacted on social media with many, including Fevola, not happy. 'It will be an epic fail,' Fevola brutally declared on The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick, however, his co-host Fifi Box was not on board. 'I love Snoop. That excites me, but he doesn't ... I'm interested to see how that'll go on the day,' Box said. Fevola: 'Not for me ... he's gonna have to smoke like a joint. He's gonna have to do some real radical stuff (to get the crowd going). 'But I just think it's a fail ... we did hear Foo Fighters. That would have been amazing. You want sing-along (songs). Kids aren't going to the MCG (for Snoop).' Last year Katy Perry was considered a roaring success and fans were also blown away by high-energy acts in KISS and Robbie Williams in 2023 and 2022. But the announcement of Snoop has also left fans cold, with many highlighting his reputation for drug use and misogynistic lyrics. 'I've kind of done everything I can to avoid exposing my kids to this culture, why do the AFL want to,' one fan said. 'AFL always respects women,' another said And another: 'Embarrassing decision. He's terrible now. Australia is the only place that gives him the time of day. The Menulog GF. 🤦‍♂️.' And another: 'Some dude well past his used by date ... Honestly Is there no current local band in these shores that could whip up a storm? This is the best we can do ???? AFL still haven't learnt their lesson from Meat Loaf.' And another: 'Why does Meat Loaf immediately spring to mind? And another: 'I love Snoop and have seen him live twice. Let me put it like this - if you are trying to get someone to rival Meat Loaf as the worst ever choice for GF entertainment, he is your man. PS. Do the AFL have any idea what he sings about? 😀' While another said: 'Hope they can hand out enough weed so we can all enjoy the show🥴.' And another: 'Seriously, AFL?? You couldn't actually find some real Aussie talent for the 2025 AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment?? Typical ... 🙄. The AFL did not confirm the Snoop Dogg story but said they were hoping to make announcement soon. 'The pre-game entertainment at the AFL grand final is always a talking point, and we're hoping to make an announcement shortly,' a spokesperson said. 'We are excited to deliver another world-class show in front of 100,000 fans at the MCG, and the millions more watching the broadcast ahead of the biggest game of the season.'

'Eddie wanted me': Brendan Fevola blocked from joining McGuire at Collingwood

Carlton legend Brendan Fevola has revealed he was approached about a potential switch to both Collingwood and St Kilda at the end of his career, but the Blues wouldn't deal with the Magpies back in 2009. The two-time Coleman medallist is a Carlton great having kicked 575 goals for the club across 187 games. The three-time All-Australian also spent one year at the Brisbane Lions having joined them for his final year of AFL footy in 2010. However, Fevola has revealed the Lions were not the only club in pursuit of his signature when he was on the way out of Carlton. Speaking on The Fox's 'Fifi, Fev & Nick' on Melbourne's 101.9, Fevola revealed St Kilda legend Nick Riewoldt reached out to him and sold the club as a potential destination for the 2010 season. However, discussions of an enormous pay-cut promptly ended negotiations with the Saints. 'Yeah, they couldn't afford me though. This is dead-set. I was going to go to St Kilda," Fevola said on Friday. "Nick Riewoldt rang me and said, 'Come to the Saints, we need you to win a flag, but you need to take a $700,000 pay-cut.' I said, 'See ya, mate' and hung up." Eddie McGuire wanted Brendan Fevola at Collingwood Then Collingwood came knocking. Fevola claimed Collingwood president Eddie McGuire was interested in bringing the forward over to join a strong squad. Although the Blues were not interested in dealing with their cross-town rivals and snubbed the trade before it went any further. 'I nearly went to Collingwood, but Carlton wouldn't trade with Collingwood," Fevlola said. "Eddie wanted me to go to Collingwood. I chose Brisbane, we finished near the bottom, and St Kilda and Collingwood played in the grand final that year." Collingwood won the 2010 premiership, but it wasn't without drama after initially drawing with St Kilda 68-68. The two sides played again in a replay, with Collingwood emerging with a 56-point win. That year the Lions finished 13th with just seven wins. Although Fevola did contribute 48 goals across his 17 games in 2010. Brendan Fevola's AFLW coaching role Since hanging up his boots, Fevola has fallen back in love with AFL after taking up a surprise role at the beginning of 2025. Fevola recently joined the Richmond AFLW team as a specialist coach. The 44-year-old has coaching experience at a local level having worked with a number of teams since his retirement in 2010. He also worked with Collingwood's AFLW program last year, which got him excited about working in footy again. Fevola said his new role came about after meeting with Tigers AFLW football operations manager Kate Sheahan who offered him a role to work with the forwards. And the Carlton legend said he jumped at the opportunity. 'Over the summer, I caught up with Kate Sheahan. She was picking my brain about footy and (whether I would) like to pursue a coaching career," Fevola announced earlier this year. "She saw what I did with Collingwood. I loved it. It really, really fired up the fire that had been put out in my body once I finished the AFL. 'And now… I am a specialist coach at AFLW team, the Richmond Football Club. I am now a coach." RELATED: AFL fans shower Joel Selwood with support as leave of absence ends Fans erupt over detail in post-match celebrations for Sam Docherty Fevola admitted driving into a rival club's headquarters did feel 'weird' but the fresh role has rejuvenated his love for the game. Fevola will be playing in the Legends Game for Prostate Cancer at Marvel Stadium on August 28.

Aussie TV star Dave Hughes makes sad admission about his beloved Carlton

Carlton superfan and TV funnyman Dave Hughes has again addressed the raging crisis engulfing his embattled club. The Blues' season has imploded, fans are fuming, and past coaches and players are crawling out of the woodwork to have their say about the club they once represented. Carlton was belted by Port Adelaide on Thursday night and are now facing brutal clashes against flag contenders Collingwood and Brisbane. The day before the loss to Port, Hughes went viral with an epic rant about following Carlton on Channel 7's hit show The Front Bar. 'We were premiership favourites playing against an under-12 team, we were 40 points up and lost, and our team left at halftime!' he said about the loss to Richmond in Round 1. 'I walked home the MCG to St Kilda in the dark on my own, true story. I was looking for guys with machetes and could not find them, where are they when you need them?' 'This was our year? 30 years! This was it. 'Guys, it's sad. I cannot do it anymore, it's not good for my health. Every weekend from now on I will go to the Wonthaggi area and forage for mushrooms. Cook them up and have a good time. What could go wrong?' That outburst was in the aftermath to Carlton's shock loss to North Melbourne in Round 15. Fans were hoping the Blues would respond against Port, but that ended in a 50-point smashing. On Friday the Hughes tone was more sombre as he admitted it was hard work being a supporter, and his son doesn't go to games anymore. 'I still go to Carlton games because unlike my teenage son I still remember the feeling of winning. Hopefully it happens in my lifetime. I'm trying to keep fit so that I can live another 50 years and see that it does happen. Because the reward if they do get it done will be immense,' he wrote in a News Corp column. 'I'm not blaming individuals. I can't blame individuals. The club has just … it's just … it is just the club. It's the whole club. And it's been going on for 25 years. 'We have torched so many reputations. Talk to Denis Pagan, talk to Mick Malthouse. Two legends of coaching turned up to Carlton and left shattered men. 'I feel sorry for everyone who turns up at the club these days. It's just … it's just so hard. Carlton being bad is actually good for comedy to be honest but I'd still rather not have it happen ... being a Blues fan right now is just hard. It's hard.' Carlton have spent years building the list to a point that was meant to contend in 2025. But there is little hope they will play finals this year and on Friday football boss Brad Lloyd could not confirm if coach Michael Voss would be at the club next year. 'I'm unsure of that,' he said Club great Brendan Fevola says 'something is wrong'. 'Something is going on. The board needs to go, I've been saying that for ages. The board is just there for themselves,' he said on his radio program, The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick. 'Get new people in. Get old Carlton people in. Blokes like (former star player) Fraser Brown who would be amazing on the board. 'Everyone is saying, 'Sack Vossy, Vossy needs to go', and I'm like, 'No, I don't think that's the go'. 'It gets to a point where you go, 'I don't think the players are playing for you, mate'. If you're playing for a coach, you don't put up what you put up in that first half. 'They're putting up nothing, they didn't kick a goal for the whole first half. 'They don't look like they've got a system but they do have a system; they train and they train hard. They're just not performing.' Mick Malthouse told 7NEWS it was too easy to 'pot' the coach 'He is a gutsy person who I have the greatest admiration for and I hope he hangs in there,' Malthouse told 7NEWS.

Fevola said the Blues' win return had not matched the strength of their list. Carlton fans called for the sacking of list manager Nick Austin and football boss Brad Lloyd. 'Carlton were premiership favourites at the start of the year (and) they're not even going to play finals, their season is over. 'I don't know what's wrong with Patrick Cripps, he looked sore last night. I would just put them all on ice and say you're done, get your body right for next year.' Fevola also took aim at out-of-contract big man Tom De Koning, who has been heavily linked to St Kilda on the AFL's most lucrative deal. Fevola has called for the Blues to have a hard conversation with Tom De Koning (right). Picture: NewsWire/Ian Currie Fevola said the Blues must demand an answer from De Koning and sideline him if he is not committed to staying. 'The problem is they have Tom De Koning, who is in our top three players. He's been offered $12 million to go to St Kilda and Carlton can't match that,' he said. 'If he's going, don't play him; say to him that he needs to make a decision now and if he can't answer that, say you're in the twos – get some young kid to play in the ruck. 'This has been going on all year and it's what everyone talks about; if he doesn't want to stay, just be honest.'
