Boonshoft Museum and Shriners Children's to collab for Burn Awareness Week
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Did you know that burns are one of the leading causes of death accidental death and injury among children, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine?
Shriners Children's Ohio and Boonshoft Museum of Discovery are collaborating to kick off Burn Awareness Week together to give parents and kids the tools and information to prevent burns.
There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Boonshoft Museum of Discovery on Saturday, February 1 at 10 a.m. where the hospital will unveil a photo station, hold a story time, and have burn-prevention educational resources available, including a family activity sheet.
Shriners Children's Ohio will also give out goody bags as supplies last. The photo station will feature the Shriners teddy bear mascot Fezzy and a forest backdrop.
In 2024 Shriners Children's Ohio in Dayton treated more than 600 new burns.
