Converge erases 18-point deficit, bounces back at Terrafirma's expense

(Photo: PBA) Converge bounced back in the PBA Philippine Cup at the expense of Terrafirma, 117-103, on Wednesday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig. The FiberXers erased an 18-point deficit en route to the victory as they improved to 6-4, while the Dyip fell to 1-8. Converge trailed 61-43 with around five minutes left in the second period before closing out the said frame with a 65-56 disadvantage. By the third period, Converge managed to inch closer, 92-88, before unleashing a late rally to claim the victory. The FiberXers opened the fourth period with an 8-0 run to claim a 96-92 lead. Converge took control of the game and led 104-100 with around five minutes left before they made another 8-0 run to take a 112-100 lead with 1:43 remaining. Aldrech Ramos tried to salvage the run with a triple but Alec Stockton's jumper and King Caralipio's triple sealed the come-from-behind victory. Caralipio waxed hot as he drilled three treys en route to an 18-point outing to go with 10 boards, while Justine Baltazar and Justin Arana both had 17 points, with the former having 10 rebounds, while the latter grabbed 13 rebounds. Schonny Winston added 16 points. Stanley Pringle, meanwhile, had 23 points, while Louie Sangalang added 18 points as the Dyip continued to struggle in the tourney. Stockton drops 33 as Converge adds to NorthPort's woes

(Photo: PBA Media) Alec Stockton dropped 33 points as Converge defeated NorthPort, 111-92, on Friday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig. Stockton's season-high outing was built on five out of nine triples to go with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals as the FiberXers improved to 5-3 and bounced back after falling to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. Converge pulled away in the second half after it made 34 points to take an 82-64 lead by the end of the third period. The FiberXers had its biggest lead, 107-84, at the 4:07 mark of the final frame after Justin Arana's split before cruising onto the victory. Schonny Winston almost registered a double-double performance with 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Arana, meanwhile, logged 18 points, 14 boards, and three assists, as Justine Baltazar stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks. Joshua Munzon and Will Navarro had 23 and 20 points, respectively, as the Batang Pier absorbed its fifth straight loss after opening the conference with a win. Arvin Tolentino still did not play for NorthPort.
