Fidelity's Forever Funds: ETFs Designed for Long-Term Growth
The Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund makes it easy to invest in the cryptocurrency. The Fidelity Cloud Computing ETF takes advantage of the growth in cloud infrastructure. These two ETFs give you growth and stability in two promising areas with long-term potential. 10 stocks we like better than Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund › Warren Buffett has long preached the virtues of long-term investing. Buying for the long haul provides plenty of advantages, especially when it comes to compounding and minimizing tax implications. Right now, two Fidelity ETFs seem perfectly designed to provide maximum returns over a long time horizon. Most investors don't own any cryptocurrency. And there's good reason for that. Volatility makes most cryptocurrency investments unviable for those seeking safe and reliable returns. Plus, the process of buying and selling cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin can be far too complicated for most people. That's why the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (NYSEMKT: FBTC) is so attractive. For an expense ratio of just 0.25%, investors can get direct exposure to the crypto without the complex tasks of self-custody and tax tracking. It can take a lot of education to wrap your head around cryptocurrencies and their potential. The industry is rife with misinformation and misleading promises. But Bitcoin, arguably the original cryptocurrency, is a proven and relatively simple asset. Think of it as digital gold. There are only so many bitcoins in circulation at any given time. And while there is some marginal inflation over time, its total supply is capped, just as there is only so much gold in the ground to dig up. To be sure, the crypto has significantly more volatility than gold. But it arguably has more upside as well. Its total market capitalization right now is around $2.2 trillion. Gold's total market cap, meanwhile, is above $23 trillion. So compared to gold, Bitcoin could have 1,000% more upside to go. And that doesn't even include its value as a transactional currency, an advantage gold is fairly limited in. Expect a lot of volatility here, but investing even just 1% of your assets into Bitcoin might boost your portfolio's total upside potential significantly. Fidelity's Wide Origin Bitcoin Fund makes adding that exposure as easy as buying any other exchange-traded fund (ETF). If you're looking for high growth potential with traditional stocks, however, check out the promising new ETF below. Looking to maximize your chances for long-term growth? Consider the Fidelity Cloud Computing ETF (NYSEMKT: FCLD). It's relatively new and shouldn't replace broad market indexes like those that track the S&P 500. But there's no denying that it could add huge long-term potential to any portfolio. As its name suggests, the Fidelity Cloud Computing ETF invests primarily in businesses that operate cloud computing infrastructure, like Oracle and Microsoft. It also invests in cloud software-as-a-service (SaaS) stocks like Salesforce. Cloud computing is perhaps one of the biggest sectors that will benefit from the AI revolution. The United Nations predicts that the market will grow from $189 billion in 2023 to nearly $5 trillion by 2033. Much of that value will accrue to cloud computing businesses. Why? It has everything to do with how AI is trained and deployed. Artificial intelligence requires a lot of computing power. Instead of building this infrastructure themselves, most developers and businesses outsource it to cloud infrastructure businesses like Microsoft's Azure division. And when it comes to using AI features, most of them will be deployed via cloud SaaS like Salesforce. From hardware to software, cloud computing businesses will benefit strongly from rising AI demand, which is expected to increase at more than 30% per year for the next decade or more. Fidelity's Cloud Computing ETF isn't perfect. It does have a relatively high expense ratio of 0.4%. And betting on a single sector isn't for every investor. But if you're looking to build a portfolio with high long-term potential without the complexity of managing individual positions, this ETF looks like a reasonable bet. Bitcoin Devotees Plowed $3 Billion Into ETFs Amid Crypto's Surge
Cryptocurrency investors waded back into the market last week, riding a surge in Bitcoin. Exchange-traded funds tracking Bitcoin and Ether attracted more than $3.2 billion last week, with the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (ticker IBIT) alone seeing a nearly $1.5 billion inflow — the most this year, data compiled by Bloomberg show. Other Bitcoin-focused funds also saw meaningful infusions, with investors adding more than $620 million to the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) and roughly $574 million into the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC).

3 Important Things to Know About the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve
President Trump followed through on a popular campaign promise this month. After laying the groundwork for a strategic reserve of cryptocurrency holdings in earlier commitments, the March 6 signing of Executive Order 14233 seeks to establish an official Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a separate Digital Asset Stockpile. Many crypto investors had been hoping for a truly game-changing strategic reserve, paving the way to massive federal purchases of Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) and other digital assets. The executive order didn't exactly deliver on those bullish hopes, and the immediate market reaction was largely negative. On the other hand, this two-pronged digital asset strategy may turn out to have some value-boosting power after all. Here are three important details about Executive Order 14233 that probably didn't jump out at you from reading the headlines -- and perhaps not even after taking a quick look at the order. Bitcoin investors should pay more attention than others, but it's also substantial news to Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) and XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) holders. The idea of mirroring the U.S. gold reserve in Bitcoin (and perhaps other digital assets) sounds like a big deal. However, the gold holdings in Fort Knox and elsewhere are not that large. According to the Treasury's own data, the total value of all gold under federal ownership was about $11 billion in February. To put that gold figure into context, there are currently three Bitcoin-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) with more than $11 billion of Bitcoin in each portfolio: Bitcoin ETF Assets Under Management (AUM) 3-Month Fund Flows iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (NASDAQ: IBIT) $48.2 billion 8% Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (NYSEMKT: FBTC) $16.5 billion (5.2%) Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (NYSEMKT: GBTC) $16.3 billion (8.1%) Data collected from on March 21, 2025. Gold reserves would be larger if the American dollar were directly based on the value of its gold holdings, but that's not how the dollar works anymore. The country started to cut loose from the gold standard in 1933, completing the journey to a fiat currency in 1973. Since then, the dollar hasn't been tied to any physical assets, becoming a fiat currency with more direct government control over its effective value. So, the gold reserve has nothing to do with the value of American dollars. It's also a pretty small portion of the global gold reserve, currently worth about $20 trillion, according to several sources. ETFs already manage 5.5% of the cryptocurrency's market value, making $11 billion a drop in the golden ocean. In other words, it may be misguided to expect a price-changing impact from any version of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. These reserves aren't that huge. The private investments flowing through ETFs seem to have stronger price-moving effects on Bitcoin than any government effort ever could. Cryptocurrencies not named Bitcoin are in the domain of the distinct Digital Asset Stockpile. This portfolio is tasked to collect the non-Bitcoin crypto coins currently held by any part of the Treasury, adding more only as the result of legal proceedings. To be clear, the Treasury will manage its altcoins in one central portfolio but will not actively buy any more Ethereum, Litecoin (CRYPTO: LTC), XRP, Solana, or stablecoins. Any additions to this Stockpile will come from criminal or civil court cases. Solana and XRP investors were expecting a more active purchasing program, and their coin prices drooped sharply as soon as Trump signed the executive order. I don't have any bullish insights to share about the Digital Asset Stockpile, but the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve might have some price-boosting power in the end. If Bitcoin continues to rise in value over the long term, the Treasury could reallocate many forms of monetary holdings to this newfangled asset class. Selling off some gold is one option, though I already talked about the limited scale of that resource. The Treasury also has about $24.1 billion of euros and euro-denominated securities, along with $13.7 billion in similar assets measured in Japanese yen. Together, that's approximately $36.8 billion of foreign currency reserves that could be moved into the Bitcoin bucket. It also manages $27.2 billion of reserves in the International Monetary Fund (IMF), not to mention a staggering $170.7 billion of special drawing rights (SDRs) against the IMF's basket of major international currencies. These money baskets are similar to savings accounts on the scale of global finance. You've heard of other asset reserves, but those are often outside the Treasury Department's control and, therefore, not a serious part of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve discussion. The Department of Energy had about 396 million barrels of oil in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve on March 14. That's worth about $27 billion at recent oil prices, but it's not a Treasury-owned asset. Likewise, fabled 1.4 billion pounds of surplus cheese in long-term cold cave storage could be worth $7.8 billion on the open market. Flooding the market with massive amounts of extra oil or literal government cheese would drive prices way down, but you get my drift. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) owns the cheese caves, and the USDA is not mentioned in Executive Order 14233. And pulling huge portions of America's monetary reserves out of the IMF could result in a global economic crisis, even if the Treasury is moving the funds into a promising new asset class like Bitcoin. So, any Bitcoin-buying program on a market-moving scale would have to be done with great care over a long period, and I don't expect any massive overnight price jumps. But there is some potential for a price-boosting slow burn here -- even if dipping into the national oil and cheese reserves isn't an option. Ever feel like you missed the boat in buying the most successful stocks? Then you'll want to hear this. On rare occasions, our expert team of analysts issues a 'Double Down' stock recommendation for companies that they think are about to pop. If you're worried you've already missed your chance to invest, now is the best time to buy before it's too late. And the numbers speak for themselves: Nvidia: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2009, you'd have $305,226!* Apple: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2008, you'd have $41,382!* Netflix: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2004, you'd have $517,876!* Right now, we're issuing 'Double Down' alerts for three incredible companies, and there may not be another chance like this anytime soon.*Stock Advisor returns as of March 18, 2025 Anders Bylund has positions in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (BTC), and XRP. Crypto ETFs Plunge as Growth Scare Hits Market
Bitcoin and ethereum exchange-traded funds swooned on Monday as trade wars and recession fears added fresh uncertainty to markets, pushing investors away from high-risk trades and toward safer investments like bond and dividend funds. The world's biggest crypto ETF, the $50.9 billion iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), fell 7.8%, continuing a slide that began the day after President Donald Trump was sworn in on Jan. 20. While inflows are positive for the year, investors have pulled a net $1.4 billion from the fund since Feb. 21. Other spot crypto funds dropped as the price of bitcoin briefly fell beneath $79,500, according to CoinMarketCap data. Crypto and equities have dipped in response to President Trump's efforts to reshape the global economy with nationalist policies like tariffs, and his declining this weekend to rule out a recession in the near future further rattled stock markets. Meanwhile, bond funds like the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT) jumped along with dividend ETFs like the Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD). 'Cryptocurrencies are highly volatile, and investors may choose to scale back exposure when recession fears arise,' Morningstar's director of passive strategies research Bryan Armour said in an email. 'Bitcoin tends to rise along risk appetite and fall when markets go risk-off.' Other spot crypto ETFs slid: The $17.8 billion Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) lost 8.3%, and the leveraged ProShares Ultra Bitcoin ETF (BITU), with $957.3 million in assets, plummeted 18%. Funds trading in spot ethereum also continued their decline, with the $1.1 billion Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust (ETH) losing 6.6%. That fund has lost 42% over the past three months. Those declines come as issuers file dozens of applications for exchange-traded funds that hold smaller cryptocurrencies, from XRP to Hedera to Solana. Those applications flooded the Securities and Exchange Commission after Trump signaled a more open approach to crypto and Gary Gensler, who advocated a cautionary approach to crypto ETFs, stepped down. Spot bitcoin ETF investors haven't responded enthusiastically to the president's stance on crypto. Since Jan. 21, the day after Trump was sworn in, IBIT has dropped 24% amid Trump's promises to be the 'crypto president.'Permalink | © Copyright 2025 All rights reserved Sign in to access your portfolio

February 2025 ETF Flows: Record Highs and Sharp Selloffs
February was a month of mixed emotions in the markets. The S&P 500 reached an all-time high on Feb. 19, driven by optimism over strong earnings growth and the potential for new tax cuts and deregulation under the new Trump administration. But the rally was short-lived. Stocks sold off in the final days of the month as concerns about trade wars, tariffs and slowing economic growth rattled investors. Still, despite the volatility, ETF flows saw another strong month: $110.8 billion in net inflows, bringing year-to-date flows to $217.5 billion. U.S. equity ETFs continued to dominate, pulling in $52.2 billion during the month. Investors remained committed to large-cap stocks, while small-caps struggled as risk appetite waned. International equity ETFs also saw steady demand, with $15.4 billion in inflows, while fixed-income ETFs were another bright spot, bringing in $30.8 billion. On the other side, currency ETFs experienced $2.7 billion in outflows, while leveraged ETFs lost $2.3 billion as traders backed away from high-risk plays amid growing uncertainty. The SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) was the top asset gatherer in February, adding $14.6 billion in the month. That helped SPY maintain its lead over the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) in total AUM, though Vanguard's S&P 500 ETF briefly surpassed SPY mid-month before falling back. While SPY won the month, VOO remains the top ETF for 2025 so far, with $28.5 billion in year-to-date inflows. Gold ETFs were another major winner last month. The SPDR Gold Trust (GLD) saw $3.8 billion in inflows as investors sought safety amid the late-month stock selloff and gold prices surged toward $3,000 per ounce. But the demand for safety extended beyond gold, with investors pouring money into fixed-income ETFs like the iShares 0-3 Month Treasury Bond ETF (SGOV) and the Janus Detroit Street AAA CLO ETF (JAAA), both of which saw strong inflows as investors sought yield without interest rate risk On the outflows side, the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) was hit hardest, losing $3.9 billion, as small-caps underperformed large-caps in the volatile market environment. Long-duration bonds also struggled, with the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT) seeing $2.9 billion in outflows, though recent price action suggests that TLT has started climbing again as economic concerns mount. Bitcoin ETFs took a hit as well, with the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) losing $1.4 billion amid a broad sell-off in cryptocurrency. Bitcoin prices dropped sharply in February as investors adopted a more risk-off stance and uncertainty loomed over U.S. crypto reserve policies. Another notable ETF in the outflows category was Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3x Shares (SOXL). The semiconductor sector, which has been one of the hottest areas of the market over the past year, saw a sharp reversal after Nvidia Corp.'s (NVDA) earnings failed to meet Wall Street's sky-high expectations, leading to a significant sell-off.
