Street closures in NYC for parades and festivals this weekend
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Spring is in full swing in New York City with Pride Month just around the corner and to celebrate a number of festivals and parades with take over the streets throughout the weekend.
Among some of the events happening on Saturday and Sunday include the following.
Times Square Springfest – A 10-block spring street fair held along Seventh Avenue
Street closures:
Seventh Avenue between 47th Street and 57th Street
– The 35th annual celebration of Filipino culture on Madison Avenue. Kicks off at 8 a.m. with a flag-raising ceremony and mass and wraps up with a street fair finishing at 6 p.m.

– The fourth annual cultural event held in Midtown along Sixth Avenue. The parade will step off at 12 p.m. and wrap up at 3 p.m.

Route:6th Avenue between 44th Street and 55th Street
Dispersal:55th Street between Fifth Avenue and Seventh Avenue
Fun on Fifth Ave Festival – Run by the non-profit organization Bay Ridge Fifth Ave Business Improvement District, the event promotes the economic and cultural diversity of the neighborhood. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Street closures:
Fifth Avenue between Bay Ridge Avenue and 85th Street
– The event celebrates the 59th anniversary of Guyana's independence with a parade that kicks off at noon and wraps up with a celebration concert at 2 p.m. at 1450 Utica Ave.

– The second oldest and second largest pride parade in New York City that's held in Jackson Heights annually on the first Sunday in June. The parade will march down 37th Avenue from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
