One Piece: Oda confirms Luffy needs a new power-up stronger than Gear 5 and conqueror's haki

The Final Saga kicks into gear, the Straw Hat captain will have to contend with his most formidable opponent yet—Imu, a god-like king even more powerful than Kaido. One Piece's world is on the brink of its largest climax yet. After more than 25 years of piracy, the saga is entering its Final Saga after all this time, and creator Eiichiro Oda is doing all he can to ensure fans know what's really at stake. In another significant spoiler, Oda admitted that even with the immense powers of Luffy's Gear 5 and his advanced Haki, he will require an even more unrealized potential to beat the order's ultimate villain Imu. One Piece is an internationally beloved, record-breaking manga and anime franchise about the adventures of Luffy, a boy whose body has turned into rubber and who dreams of becoming King of the Pirates. To stay competitive with villains that have come before him, Luffy has been given new powerful transformations and fighting styles, becoming more powerful in every story arc. In this Final Saga, even his strongest forms might not be enough. Luffy reached Yonko-level in wano, but that's still not enough During the Wano Country arc, Luffy was able to take full advantage of Gear 5 once his Devil Fruit had awoken. This transformation provided him with almost cartoon-like liberties in combat, enabling him to contort, extend, and otherwise manipulate the field of play to suit his preferences. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Encontre voos low-cost Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo On top of this, he developed the ability to coat his strikes in Conqueror's Haki, a special kind of spiritual energy only the most powerful characters can master. 'This is my peak! This is Gear 5!' — Monkey D. Luffy During the Wano arc of One Piece, he uses these powers to defeat Kaido, the world's strongest creature. With that victory, Luffy became a Yonko himself. He is one of the four empire-building pirates calling the shots in the New World. Now, a much larger menace has come: Imu, the true lord of the world. Imu's power is beyond anything we've seen before When it comes to the main villain of One Piece, I do believe that Imu is almost unlike any other villain fans have gotten in this series. Imu's first major appearance came during the Wano arc earlier this year, in which he's revealed to control the World Government from the shadows and has lived for centuries, perhaps even since the Void Century. In Chapter 1149, fans were treated to a first-hand account of Imu releasing unimaginable powers, all the while manipulating a creature called Gunko. Not only is Imu physically powerful, they possess Conqueror's Haki, can (as we've discussed here) grant others immortality, and might even share powers with the Five Elders—who have all become powerful yokai thanks to dark abilities. 'Allow Mu to show thee the dominance of a God!' — Imu Additionally, it's implied that Imu's powers go beyond the physical and influence the soul, rendering them virtually immune to defeat by outside force. Even Joy Boy, a mythical hero credited with being even stronger than current Luffy, might not have been able to defeat Imu in the past. Gear 5 and haki aren't enough to win the final war If Luffy's ever going to achieve victory, he'll require a lot more than just Gear 5 and Conqueror's Haki. Based on these theories and recent developments as well as Oda's foreshadowing, it seems like Luffy will need to learn or discover new techniques that can affect the soul in order to harm or defeat Imu. This might mean: Mastering Gear 5 deeper, unlocking potential With Mastering Gear 5 deeper, tapping into various new abilities. Better still would be perfecting all three varieties of Haki, namely Observation, Armament, and Conqueror's. Discovering these soul-based attacks might be the key in defeating the immortals Receiving counsel from influential mentors, such as the enigmatic Scopper Gaban who should finally return to help train Luffy Where to read and watch One Piece The new One Piece chapter is serving all that hype as well right now in the Final Saga. Chapter 1151 will come out officially on … June 7, 2025 (Saturday) – for most of the rest of the world Free to read on Manga Plus and Viz Media Fans are looking forward to learning more about Imu, taking a deeper dive into Luffy's training, and even getting a glimpse at the start of his next transformation. One Piece creator may change the ending—Here's what fans need to know

It's now the highest selling anime and manga series of all time. Developed by Japanese artist Eiichiro Oda, the series centers on Monkey D. Luffy, a boy whose body has been magically transformed into brown rubber who wishes to earn the title of Pirate King by finding the world's greatest treasure—the One Piece. The ground-breaking manga One Piece is speeding towards its concluding chapters—but in a jaw-dropping turn of events, creator Eiichiro Oda has announced he may entirely alter the story's ending. With Luffy making his way toward the fabled One Piece and the Final Saga underway, Oda's audacious claim has sent fans into a frenzy. One Piece is ending soon—And the story is more intense than ever As of now, One Piece is in its Final Saga, with the most recent chapters set in the Elbaf arc. This arc is packed with huge changes. Luffy is about to finally claim the title of Pirate King, and the final antagonist of the world government, Imu, has at last been revealed. With three of the four Road Poneglyphs already in hand, Luffy is only one step away from reaching the final island, Laugh Tale, where the legendary treasure he seeks awaits. With the arrival of the Elbaf Mural and very recently, the Poneglyphs, we've had confirmation that Oda is indeed setting the stage for One Piece's grand finale. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Unbelievable: Calculator Shows The Value Of Your House Instantly (Take a Look) Instant Home Value Search Now Undo On one big hotel wall, for example, were the colorful scrawled words, 'The mysteries of the world—I'll draw them all.' Fans feel that time is coming very soon. Oda doesn't want fans to predict the ending Oda has a reputation for being fond of plot twists and shocks. It's only recently that he came clean on the fact that he doesn't like it when fans guess correctly on big plot points. Per an interview on Japanese radio, Oda really hates how close some fan theories have come and it's costing him dearly in plans he can't use. In fact, as he's claimed on more than one occasion that if anyone correctly guesses the show's ending, he will change it completely. That certainly doesn't exclude fan theories on Reddit, YouTube essays, or Twitter discourse. This caused some of the big theory sites in Japan to preemptively erase their One Piece theories. This has caused even well known content creators to refocus the way they need to present their ideas. Oda has had the ending planned for years Eiichiro Oda actually came up with One Piece's ending when he was in college, according to a 2018 interview. That means he's been assured of how the story will end since long before the first chapter was ever published. He's shown the complete ending to a select few, including his full-time staff, his editors, and to Goro Taniguchi, director of One Piece Film: Red. Oda has made it clear that if fans get it, he won't stop rewriting it. This is alarming. Would altering such a fundamental, historical plan make the final act a toothless one? At least, that's what a lot of fans are hoping for. When will One Piece chapter 1150 be released? One Piece Chapter 1150 drops on Sunday, June 1, 2025 (Saturday night for US readers). In Japan, it will be available starting at midnight JST on Monday, June 2. Unlike many comics, you'll have a hard time avoiding One Piece legally — you can read it for free on official platforms like Manga Plus or the Shonen Jump app. What this means for One Piece fans around the world With One Piece now officially in its final stretch, the pressure is greater than ever. Luffy nearing the One Piece that's been alluded to for 25 years, Imu officially entering the battlefield, and fans finding out the most sordid secrets of the world. Now, there's a new surprise—the ending itself hasn't been written in stone now after all. While Oda's decision here will upset many, it goes to show just how highly he prizes shock, how much he treasures creativity, and just how badly he wants to keep his audience on their toes. Whether you've been with Luffy since the start or are new to the series, now is an amazing time to get aboard. The Pirate King's legacy is being rewritten—one page at a time. One Piece creator confirms big plans for Shanks in the final saga

One Piece, the famous world-conquering manga and anime juggernaut from Eiichiro Oda, is moving into its final climactic Final Saga. As the series begins to wrap up after more than 25 years, Oda has gone on record to confirm what Long Ring Long Land fans have been hoping for all along —Shanks, the red-haired swashbuckler who launched Luffy's adventure, will be a central, pivotal player in the saga's last arc. This announcement has sparked new global enthusiasm, particularly for the old-school fans that have been waiting decades to finally see Shanks in action. For returnees, it's an excellent opportunity to delve into one of the most groundbreaking tales in anime history. Who exactly is Shanks in One Piece the mysterious pirate who inspired Luffy's dream Shanks is one of the most important and enigmatic characters in all of One Piece. He's the pirate who, through his adventures, inspired a young Monkey D. Luffy to pursue his own dream of becoming the Pirate King. Shanks is responsible for giving Luffy his signature straw hat—the very same hat previously owned by the infamous Gol D. Roger. For all of his pivotal role in the story, Shanks has only appeared sporadically over the course of the narrative. A founding member of the Yonko, the four most powerful pirates in the world, Shanks is characterized by his easy-go-lucky attitude, overwhelming strength, and mysterious intentions. Fans have long argued over which side they should take: is Shanks the washed-up hero, the fateful guardian figure, or the creepy predator? Eiichiro Oda says it loud and clear: Shanks will dominate the final saga In a recently resurfaced 1998 quote, Oda stated: 'When Shanks appears frequently in the manga, you can assume that One Piece has entered the Final Saga.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Entrevista exclusiva: a verdade sobre o magnésio que ninguém te contou AlwaysFit Undo Certainly, that prophecy has come true. In the last few chapters, Shanks has appeared in consecutive chapters, proving Oda's decade-plus plan true. The red-haired pirate isn't just back — he's front and center . As far as Oda's concerned, Shanks has been one of the biggest players pushing the story's action forward and he'll play a direct role when it comes time to clash over the One Piece treasure, the Void Century's secrets and perhaps the world's fate. Shanks was always waiting—for Nika , for Luffy, and for the new era Throughout the Wano arc, fans discovered that Luffy's Devil Fruit was not the Gomu Gomu no Mi—it was the Mythical Zoan Fruit, which is related to the Sun God Nika, a freedom-loving warrior of legend. In retrospect, it is now obvious that Shanks was aware of Nika the whole time. From his mysterious dealings with the Five Elders to his knowing smile at Luffy awakening his full powers, Shanks's every action indicates that he's been biding his time—for Nika, and for Luffy—to free the world. Shanks is not just an ally—He may be Luffy's biggest rival We've seen Oda develop Shanks for more than the purpose of simply being this mentor archetype, rather one of the final big challenges—or allies—that Luffy will encounter. Some diehard fans think Shanks is protecting the last island, Laugh Tale, while others think he'll confront Luffy and try to halt his progress to save the balance of the world. There are even fan theories that Shanks is actually working for the World Government, which would make him not only a hero, but one of the most dangerous characters in the series. Might he be the final obstacle standing between the Pirate King and the throne? All of this will be disclosed in the Final Saga. Egghead arc confirms Shanks's role among the 'main players' In this most recent arc on Egghead Island, it was Dr. Vegapunk's transmission to the world that set off a chain reaction around the globe. Shortly after his announcement, the manga introduced the main characters of the Final Saga—Luffy, Blackbeard, the Revolutionary Army, the World Government, and Shanks. This eventual visual confirmation raises Shanks to a joint level of importance with the protagonist himself. Oda is sending a message loud and clear here: Shanks will not merely serve as a moral lodestar for the story. He will define it. Beyond everything outside the four seas: Shanks's history is key to the endgame Shanks was originally an apprentice on Gol D. Roger's ship, which would mean he has direct knowledge of the One Piece treasure and the world's hidden secrets. He might already have an idea of what's on Laugh Tale, the last island. Armed with that wisdom, and with his recent machinations in the ongoing story, fans are convinced Shanks will either lead that new era—or prevent it from coming about prematurely. When does the next chapter of One Piece come out One Piece Chapter 1148 has now come to a conclusion, altogether paving the way for the next chapter, One Piece Chapter 1149, which will be officially available on Sunday, May 25, 2025, for the majority of readers around the world. Japanese fans will be receiving it at midnight on Monday, May 26th. Currently, you can read the most recent chapters for free and legally on Manga Plus or the Shonen Jump app. The era of Shanks begins now For too long, and after decades in the shadowsAfter over a decade of speculation surrounding his role, Red-Haired Shanks is finally taking center stage, for better or worse. Eiichiro Oda has made it very clear that he's no side character, he's one of the main focal points to One Piece's monumental conclusion. Whatever role he plays, friend or foe, one thing is clear. Shanks is about to shake up the world of One Piece for good. If you've ever wanted to discover what makes One Piece so special, now is the perfect chance to head aboard and find out. The original pirate that started it all is back — and the end is finally in sight. Check out our list of the latest Hindi , English , Tamil , Telugu , Malayalam , and Kannada movies . One Piece: How powerful is flame emperor Sabo? Luffy's brother and revolutionary hero explained

One Piece's world is home to some of the fiercest pirates and strongest warriors the seas have ever known, but none more so than Sabo, the Flame Emperor himself. While fans are familiar with main character Monkey D. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Luffy as the future King of the Pirates, Sabo has been sneakily growing into one of the most powerful forces for good in the series. As the right-hand man of Monkey D. Dragon—the world's most wanted man and the leader of the Revolutionary Army—Sabo's strength and backstory play a key role in One Piece 's Final Saga. He's not just Luffy's sworn brother though, he's the inheritor of Portgas D. Ace's awesome flame powers. Here's all you need to know about Sabo's powers, past and future. Who is Sabo in One Piece? Sabo may be a pirate, he's Luffy's sworn brother and a promising major player in the Revolutionary Army. He spent his formative years with Luffy and Ace in the Goa Kingdom, which is where they officially became brothers. Though he did have the privilege of being born into a noble family, the expectation confiding in Sabo himself was that he would be just as corrupt as his family and marred by their homeland's aristocracy. He rebelled against this decision and chose a life of freedom. Tragically, though, Sabo was presumed killed when a World Noble shot down the ship he fled upon. Fortunately, he was rescued by his father Monkey D. Dragon who raised him to be in the Revolutionary Army. It wasn't until Ace first died and he recovered his memories that he decided to solely protect Luffy's dream and fight for justice. Sabo's family ties: Brothers, parents, and a lost childhood Brothers: Luffy and Ace are Sabo's sworn brothers, although they are not blood-related. The trio were inseparable, best friends who swore their lives to one another and hoped to sail the open seas as pirates together. Sabo was born to a wealthy noble family in the Goa Kingdom. His parents would have had him inherit their exalted niche in society. Sabo detested their hatred and bigotry. He got in trouble for running away from home and decided he preferred life on the lam with Luffy and Ace. After his own ship was destroyed by a Celestial Dragon, Dragon had rescued him, took him in and raised him as a member of the Revolutionary Army. What are Sabo's powers? 1. The flame of the fire fist: Mera Mera no Mi (Flame-Flame Fruit) After Ace's death, his powerful Logia Devil Fruit—the Mera Mera no Mi—was up for grabs in a battle royale-style tournament in Dressrosa. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Sabo joined the cause, won the tournament, and as Ace's inheritance was the Ace's flame powers, he re-inherited Ace's flame powers and became the new 'Fire Fist,' in honor of his comrade's legacy. The legendary Logia-type fruit grants Sabo the ability to produce, manipulate, and become fire. He can shoot gigantic attacks of flame, fly with fire propulsion, and melt through pretty much anything. This means that Sabo can finally use Ace's signature move, Hiken (Fire Fist). 2. Master of ryusoken : Dragon claw martial arts Even before he obtained his flame powers, Sabo was an incredibly powerful combatant. His distinctive martial arts style, Ryusoken (Dragon Claw Fist) is characterized by gripping and crushing his enemies with monstrous strength. It gives him the firepower to blow weapons and armor off foes, as well as take down colossal enemies with ease. This potent technique is stacked atop Armament Haki, a form of invisible armor that empowers attack and defense. 3. Advanced Haki use: Observation and Armament Like most characters in One Piece, Sabo is proficient in both Observation and Armament Haki. Armament Haki hardens his body and blows, enabling him to damage even Logia-type foes. Observation Haki enhances his senses, allowing him to see a few seconds into the future and sniff out foes miles away. As far as we know, Sabo doesn't have access to Conqueror's Haki, which is a legendary power granted only to the most elite fighters on the level of Luffy, Shanks, and Kaido. Sabo's biggest fights and power feats Sabo has already held his own against some of the fiercest foes in the One Piece universe: Defeated Vice Admiral Bastille's defeat in one blow with his Ryusoken technique. Crushed Jesus Burgess (Blackbeard's commander) after mastering the Mera Mera no Mi, or Flame Flame Fruit. Fought against Admiral Fujitora in the Dressrosa Arc—and stalemated him. Falsely accused of the assassination of King Cobra, a murder perpetrated off screen by the shadowy Imu and the Five Elders, garnered him a ticket to the guillotine. These accomplishments prove Sabo's strength is on par with a Yonko Commander or at least near a Marine Admiral, ranking him among the series' most powerful characters. Why is Sabo called the Flame Emperor? Sabo is known as the Flame Emperor due to his powerful abilities and his strong connection to the revolutionary cause. His nickname reflects his mastery over fire, which he gained after consuming the Mera Mera no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit. This transformation not only enhanced his combat skills but also solidified his status as a key figure in the fight against oppression. Sabo's dedication to the ideals of freedom and justice further contributes to his reputation, inspiring others to join the revolution. Sabo received the moniker Flame Emperor after the Lovely incident, in which he freed a number of slaves, but was framed for assassinating a king. To millions around the globe, he was a beacon of rebelliousness and righteousness, hailing him as a heroic liberator, taking on rough-and-tumble dictatorship. His fame and influence has reached such heights that even the World Government now considers him a significant threat on the same level as Luffy, Blackbeard, and other future kings of the sea. Is Sabo stronger than Ace? This is no easy question. While Ace understandably was awesomely powerful and able to wield all three forms of Haki, Sabo has had more years of training, given his martial arts expertise, and rapidly tempered himself to the spiritual aspects of the Mera Mera no Mi. Most fans would tell you that Sabo—currently—is more powerful than Ace was at the moment of his execution. Sabo's role saked for so long in One Piece, but he's suddenly one of the most integral characters to the final saga's closing chapters. As Dragon's second-in-command, a symbol of revolution, and Luffy's brother, Sabo's role in the coming war against the World Government will only get bigger and overshadowing. Whether he's battling an Admiral, Imu, or even going up against Blackbeard, major developments are sure to come with Sabo's continued presence as the Final Saga kicks into high gear. Sabo is one of the strongest heroes in One Piece Sabo is no longer just Luffy's long lost brother or Ace's retcon replacement. He's turned into a legend of his own. From fire powers to martial arts to advanced haki, he's one of the most powerful combatants in One Piece and a crucial player in the fight to determine the world's future.

Could Scopper Gaban unlock Luffy's strongest Haki before the final war in One Piece?

Credits: MSN Now that One Piece is finally coming to its long-promised Final Saga, there's a lot of speculation about the possible return of Scopper Gaban, the former right-hand man of Pirate King Gol D. Roger. Fans are speculating this because Gaban might come out of hiding to assist in training, helping Monkey D. Luffy learn the very last form of Haki, getting him ready for this final war that will determine the fate of the seas. W hile not officially confirmed by creator Eiichiro Oda, hints from past arcs and consistent storytelling patterns have led many to believe that Gaban's return may be imminent — and crucial. Who Is Scopper Gaban? For those fans who came around in the era after Roger went missing, Scopper Gaban is a pretty obscure name. He was a key member of the Roger Pirates, sitting below only Rayleigh and Roger himself in their hierarchy. Renowned for his dual-axe fighting style and stoic disposition, Gaban was a silent but deadly force in the Pirate King's age. Just as Rayleigh trained Luffy in Haki during the two year time skip, Gaban has been absent from the story — unseen since the flashback arc of Oden's travelling with the Roger Pirates. So to those who have wondered where he's been, we say here's what he's been up to. Is he coming back? Why Luffy needs stronger Haki By this point, we've seen Luffy go from knowing nothing to fully mastering all three types of Haki – Observation (Kenbunshoku), Armament (Busoshoku), and Conqueror's (Haoshoku). During the Wano Arc, he mastered infusing Conqueror's Haki into his attacks, something only the strongest warriors in One Piece can do. Even with the final war against Imu, the Gorosei, Blackbeard, and maybe even the World Government's ultimate weapons, that seems insufficient for the level we're building to. If Oda sticks with his tried and tested narrative formula, Luffy might still require one last bit of sass — an instructor who can help him harness Haki to its utmost zenith. That's where someone like Gaban could come in. Gaban's possible role in teaching the strongest Haki Credits: VIZ If Rayleigh showed Luffy the basics, then Gaban can teach Luffy how to fully combine all three types of Haki —something that's been rumored for a long time and could serve as the final form of Haki training goes. This would represent equilibrium between determination, knowledge, and self-control — very appropriate for Luffy's development into the next Pirate King. What's more, as someone who briefly sailed with the only man to ever conquer the Grand Line, Gaban could drop some huge One Piece lore bombs on Luffy, showing him how his mentor Roger utilized Haki not just in combat, but as an incarnation of unity and freedom itself. In the sentimental, emotionally volatile world of One Piece, mentors cease to exist as mere educators. They become vessels for transgenerational camaraderie. Gaban may well be the final piece in the puzzle to unlocking Luffy's potential, not only as a fighter, but as the man who will fight against the world's most terrible injustice. ❤️ Human side of the theory What's most interesting about this theory is not even the power-up itself — it's the emotional connection. Luffy is a symbol of the new, Gaban is what's left of the old. Their relationship would be deeper than student and teacher — it'd be a torch-passing, rich with legacy, ambition, and the unyielding spirit of the Pirate King. Picture this scene going down between Gaban and Luffy: Roger would have thought that the time for another great era like we've had would need leaders like you. Let me show you how we can now help finish what he started.' Such a moment would not only have fans in tears, it would increase the emotional core of the story and its themes. Whether or not this theory ends up being correct, one thing seems certain — Luffy has at least one more big evolution to go before the climactic battle truly gets underway. If Scopper Gaban does indeed make a return, his inclusion would serve to not only pay respect to Roger's legacy, but set up Luffy as the captain to usher in this new age. As One Piece approaches its final war, we might soon be seeing the return of another such quiet legend — a legend who bears the burden of the Pirate King's dream and the wisdom to eventually hand it over.
