Premier League darts prediction: Betting tips as Luke Littler looks to defend title at 02 showpiece
THE 2025 Premier League darts champion will be revealed on Thursday as the top four in the competition head to the 02 showdown. Luke Littler is back to defend his crown after a record league phase, with Luke Humphries, Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price all looking to dethrone the teenage superstar. SunSport have asked their team of betting supremos to preview Finals Night and select the best bets for the contest with tournament sponsors BetMGM - as well as offering £40 in free bets! Premier League darts - Finals Night preview The final four make their way to the 02 Arena with the prize of the 2025 Premier League darts champion up for grabs. Littler arrives at Finals Night as the warm favourite to defend his title after an incredible campaign. The teenager broke all kinds of records in storming his way to top spot in the table, including a record points tally of 45. He won a record six nights out of 16 and won 27 matches along the way, which left him 11 points clear of closest challenger Humphries. The pair avoid one another in the semi finals, with Littler facing his bogey man, Price and Humphries facing Aspinall, who booked his spot with a couple of terrific wins over Michael van Gerwen in the closing weeks. Many are predicting a Luke vs Luke final - a sight we're becoming used to - but you cannot rule out the other two semi finalists. It's also played over a longer format than the league phase of the Premier League, with each semi-final a best of 19 legs before the final that is the best of 21 legs. The four players have already bagged themselves a cool £85,000 in prize money just for getting here, with the beaten finalist set to pocket £125,000 and the winner scooping a sensational £275,000. Premier League darts - Finals Night preview Night winner odds Luke Littler 5/6 Luke Humphries 9/4 Gerwyn Price 6/1 Nathan Aspinall 11/1 Semi final odds Luke Littler (7/20) vs Gerwyn Price (43/20) Luke Humphries (7/20) vs Nathan Aspinall (43/20) 1 Premier League darts - Finals Night prediction Luke Littler is obviously the leading man for this competition, having won it last year and finished the league phase in splendid form. He also has far more experience than when winning it last year and is rightly the warm favourite. But the one player he probably wanted to avoid is Gerwyn Price, who has had his measure on numerous occasions in the short rivalry between the two. Nathan Aspinall and Luke Humphries won the 2023 and 2024 World Matchplay, respectively, and have course and distance form over these longer matches. Going by the value and the shocks demonstrated in other sports recently, the 11/1 price of Nathan Aspinall looks too good to pass up as the value selection. * New customers only. 7 days to place qualifying bet of £10 at 1/1 (2.0) to receive 4 x £10 Free Bets: 1 x £10 football, 1 x £10 horse racing & 2 x £10 Bet Builders. Michael van Gerwen and wife split up after darts star 'gave up' on stage
Michael van Gerwen and wife split up after darts star 'gave up' on stage Dutchman Michael van Gerwen has withdrawn from upcoming darts tournaments after confirming he and his wife, Daphne Govers, have split up, deciding to end their 11-year marriage Michael van Gerwen has announced a split from his wife, Daphne Govers (Image: Getty Images ) Michael van Gerwen has announced he and his wife, Daphne Govers, have sadly separated. The 36-year-old darts sensation was due to take part in the Elden Safety Shoes Dutch Darts Championship on Saturday evening, but ultimately withdrew from his first round fixture with Mickey Mansell, giving the Northern Irishman a bye. And as the PDC announced Van Gerwen's withdrawal from the tournament, the Dutchman was quick to explain his reasoning as he prepares for a short hiatus from the sport. In a statement, he said: "It is with great sadness that I announce that Daphne and I have decided to end our relationship. As a result I have decided to withdraw from the upcoming tournaments. "I am sorry to disappoint my fans, but I trust that they will understand my decision. We are facing a difficult time and ask everyone to respect our privacy during this period." Van Gerwen and Daphne initially started dating in 2008, before tying the knot in 2014 and going on to welcome two children together in Zoe and Mike. Now, after 11 years of matrimony, the two are set to go their separate ways. It comes after Nathan Aspinall noticed a change in his opponent during their clash in the Premier League quarter-finals in Sheffield on Thursday evening. Article continues below Aspinall needed a win over Van Gerwen to ensure that he would be at London's O2 for the final, while MVG needed to beat the Asp and win all night to take the fourth spot in the tournament. Michael van Gerwen and his wife Daphne (Image: Michael van Gerwen/Instagram ) In remarkable fashion, Aspinall was able to engineer a comfortable 6-2 win over the three-time world champion, who looked dejected as he stepped up to the oche. And Aspinall spotted that Van Gerwen was off the pace for one reason or another on the night, telling Sky Sports: "There was a lot of emotion after walking off stage. "I had to take myself away. I spoke so highly of Michael all week and go and win tonight. Content cannot be displayed without consent Article continues below "I don't know what is going on but he didn't look himself again. Even on that stage, he was giving up." Meanwhile, Van Gerwen's close friend, Vincent van der Voort told AD of the performance: "I don't see someone who wants to win at all costs. [Luke] Littler and [Luke] Humphries are really not better, but at the moment they are. "He should not accept that." As a result of the fixture, Aspinall will go on to face Humphries at the O2 on Finals Night, while Littler will face Gerwyn Price.

Nathan Aspinall pride at shutting up snipers despite Luke Littler grabbing another Premier League darts win
Joy for Aspinall as world champion Littler breaks more records and wins again Proud Nathan Aspinall was delighted to silence the snipers by booking his place in Finals Night of the BetMGM Premier League. But he still couldn't cope with record-smashing Luke Littler as The Nuke sealed an astounding campaign with yet another nightly win to surge to London in style. Aspinall has made it into the play-offs at the O2 for the third time in his career to join Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price. Victory over Michael van Gerwen in his quarter-final clash in Sheffield was going to be enough to seal the deal and the English star did not step back from the brink as he secured a fourth-straight win over the flagging Dutchman by a 6-2 scoreline. Aspinall will now tick another achievement off his bucket list when he walks out at the iconic arena in London for the first time having qualified twice previously behind-closed-doors. Given he was hammered by critics who did not believe he was worthy of a pick from the PDC to get his place in the showpiece 16-week tournament, the 33-year-old said: 'I'm so proud of myself. "I knew I had to turn up and get the result and I've done that. People wrote me off at the start of the season, but the PDC and Sky Sports know what I can do. It was my aim to get to The O2 and now I can look ahead to next week.' Aspinall was unable to get any further in the Steel City as he ran into the irresistible Littler in the semi-finals. The World Champion came up with the big shots at the big times to reach the Final having been outstanding in his last-eight win over Stephen Bunting. Humphries beat Rob Cross and Chris Dobey, but he also suffered at the hands of Littler who reeled in another Big Fish 170 finish as he defeated Cool Hand in the last game for sixth nightly triumph and also rack up a record 45 points for the campaign. Littler now meets Price in the O2 semi and said: 'It's been tough, it's a tough format, but I got myself though and I am happy to be top again and breaking all these records again. "Last year, I won the first semi final and went on to win the trophy, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready. "It's the O2, I've been there before. Me and Luke are always going to be playing for something. Once you get to the O2 and counting sown, you know it'll be a sell-out and I hope to perform again. I know what's in store.'
