Bengals center Ted Karras at Findlay Market Opening Day parade to support Reds, Cincy Hat
Cincinnati Bengals center Ted Karras was on hand Thursday for Findlay Market Opening Day parade festivities, wearing red and white Cincy Hat gear in support of the Cincinnati Reds. Karras has started all 50 games in which he's played over the past three seasons with the Bengals. Karras agreed last March to get a "Cincy" tattoo as part of his St. Tatty's Day event to benefit the Cincy Hat when quarterback Joe Burrow made a $25,000 donation to the Village of Merici. Reds Opening Day weather forecast: Cloudy skies, mild temps, rain possible in Cincinnati
Cincinnati will be covered in a sea of red Thursday, because Opening Day has finally arrived. The Reds' first game of the season takes place Thursday with a home opener against the San Francisco Giants at 4:10 p.m. at Great American Ball Park. Are you heading Downtown for the game, parade and other festivities? Here's what you should know about Thursday's weather forecast. According to the National Weather Service, isolated showers and near-normal temperatures are expected Thursday. More widespread showers, and a few storms, are expected late Thursday night through early Friday. Then much warmer air will build into the region for the upcoming weekend. Mostly sunny skies are forecast through the first part of the morning. Then cloud coverage will filter into the area by early afternoon, bringing a chance of rain. Rainfall amounts should remain very light. Highs on Thursday will generally top out in the upper 50s to lower 60s. A significant pattern change will begin to evolve overnight through Friday, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms to Greater Cincinnati. Although rain is forecast, it likely won't begin until later Thursday night. The afternoon and early evening is looking mostly clear, but make sure to pack a poncho just in case. Per the NWS' hourly weather forecast, there is a 2% chance of precipitation at noon, when the Findlay Market Opening Day parade is scheduled to begin. There is a 7% chance of rain at 4 p.m. which is 10 minutes before the game is slated to start. Precipitation chances will increase to 27% by 6 p.m. The temperature will also be around 57 degrees during the parade and 62 degrees when the Opening Day game kicks off. Thursday (Opening Day): Increasing clouds, with a high near 62. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Cincinnati prospects beat Reds stars in final Spring Training game at Day Air Ballpark
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Cincinnati Reds had their final Spring Training tune-up ahead of Thursday's Opening Day, with a special game at Day Air Ballpark Tuesday night. A team of Reds prospects broke a 5-5 tie with a run in the top of the eighth inning and added one more in the ninth to defeat the Reds' stars 7-5 on Tuesday night. The game marked the final Spring Training contest of the year for Cincinnati. A sell-out crowd of 8,515 was in attendance at Day Air Ballpark for the 25th Season Celebration Game. The Reds hit a pair of home runs and scored four runs in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Matt McLain hit a three-run home run and Jake Fraley had a solo homer in the inning. The Reds Prospects responded with four runs in the top of the third, getting a home run from Will Banfield before Will Benson delivered a titanic blast for a home run later in the inning to tie the game. The game was tied 5-5 when Noelvi Marte delivered a run-scoring single in the eighth to give the Prospects team a 6-5 lead. They added one more in the ninth to close out the scoring. Fraley had a home run and double to lead the Reds attack. Elly De La Cruz also had two hits. Rece Hinds and David Wendzel each had two hits for the Prospects team. The game's most impressive pitcher was Prospects' reliever Zach Maxwell, who struck out all three batters he faced in the eighth inning, reaching 100 mph with his fastball. The Reds are set to kick off the 2025 Major League Baseball season on Thursday, with an Opening Day showdown against the San Francisco Giants at 4:10 pm at Great American Ball Park. Ahead of first pitch, the Findlay Market Opening Day parade will open the day's festivities at 12 p.m. Former Reds third baseman Chris Sabo, known as 'Spuds' will be this year's Opening Day parade grand marshal.
