FatFace's midi dres is the most flattering and easy to style dress I own

There's one dress from FatFace's new summer line that's the dress of the summer for me, and the black midi dress is so flattering and versatile I've already styled it three ways If there's one thing that no summer wardrobe is complete without, it's a midi dress. Eternally versatile, easy to wear for all occasions, and breezy enough to keep you cool and comfortable in the summer heat, a good midi will be one of the most worn pieces in your wardrobe. In the pursuit of finding the perfect summer dress, I decided to pick up FatFace's Adeline Black Tiered Strappy Dress which promised to check all the boxes, to see just how much wear I could get out of it. The Adeline dress may look simple with its block black colour and understated silhouette, but that's exactly why I was sure it would become one of the hardest working pieces in my wardrobe. Priced at £99 it is a little bit of a splurge, but considering how frequently you'll be able to wear it I would say it's a worthwhile investment. It has a shirred bust that's super stretchy and comfortable to wear, with a subtle sweetheart neckline and tiered midi-length skirt. To make sure it would be the workhorse my wardrobe needs, I styled the Adeline Dress in three distinctly different ways – one for work, one for evening, and one for a more casual day out. And boy oh boy did it deliver. Why I picked FatFace's Adeline midi dress The Adeline midi dress is made from 100% ramie, which is a renewable plant fibre made from the nettle family, and is biodegradable, making it a fantastic sustainable choice. The ramie material has a similar look to linen, although I found it to be a little stiffer and less soft than linen would be. Ramie is also supposedly one of the strongest natural fibres – and twice as strong as linen – so it'll be hardwearing and should last a lifetime in your wardrobe. I will say the slight stiffness made it less flowy than I'd have liked, and creases were a little harder to get out (not unlike linen). However this also meant it held its shape beautifully, and maintained its flattering empire silhouette. If you want a softer material, Boden's Wren Double Cloth Midi Dress is made from 100% cotton, with wider straps and a V-neckline. You could also pick up Finery London's Jude Black Cotton Midi Tiered Dress for £69, or H&M's adjustable Tiered Strappy Dress for £32.99. I typically wear a size 14, but opted for a size 12 in the Adeline Dress as I have a smaller bust and didn't want it too loose or tent-like, and I have to say it was the right call. The stretch does however mean it would fit larger chests too, although you may need to wear a bra under if you prefer some additional support. It's available in sizes 6 to 24, with both short and regular lengths to choose from. I'm 5ft 4' and opted for the regular, and it was just the perfect ankle length on me. The stretch fit of the bodice is what makes this dress so incredibly flattering. Rather than drowning you in too much fabric, it creates a fit and flare shape that skims over areas like your tummy, hips and thighs whilst still creating a structured shape that accentuated your waist and curves. How to style it For work I paired the Adeline Dress with some simple ballet pumps with a pop of red and a pair of oversized sunglasses, and although it was easy enough to throw a lightweight jacket or cardigan over the top for some added warmth and coverage. The midi length and thicker, structured material made it smart enough for the office, whilst still being comfortable enough to spend all day sitting down at my desk in. For evening, a quick switch to a pair of heels and a statement bag instantly changed the look of the dress, without needing to do much more than that. An updo helps show off the sweetheart neckline, and just like for the office, the material helped carry it into more formal territory whilst still being comfortable. Finally, I needed the dress to be totally wearable for brunch dates, evenings at the pub, even just walking the dog at the beach if need be. A fun necklace and a pair of trainers gave the Adeline Dress an immediate new look, and it was so breezy and effortless that it managed to tow the line sometimes tricky between looking effortless without looking lazy. For me this was a top summer purchase, and I love that I can get so much use out of it. I'm all for pieces that you can wear year after year, season after season, and I could just as easily throw on some biker boots and a wool coat with this for the winter as I could some sandals and suncream during the summer.

New Look's £27 Chanel-inspired cardigan is ideal for summer office dressing

A lightweight cardigan is the ideal layering piece for handling office air conditioning during the summer, and New Look's new Chanel-inspired one is the perfect pick Whilst the rising summer temperatures are great news for everyone hoping for a little more sun, they can raise one major issue – how to dress for the office. With the heat meaning we need cool breezy outfits for morning commutes and after-work drinks, there's nothing worse than sitting down at your desk to find the freezing cold air con has you shivering throughout the day. A lightweight layering piece like a cardigan is the perfect compromise as you can fold it up neatly in your bag whilst commuting, and easily put it on once you get to the office to give you a little extra protection from the chill. If you're looking for a piece that's sophisticated and office appropriate, whilst still being easy to style and lightweight enough for the summer, New Look's Open Knit Button Detail Cardigan is a great choice. Despite its affordable £26.99 price tag, the New Look cardigan looks much more expensive than it is with a Chanel-inspired design that gives it a luxury look. With its relaxed, boxy fit which stops at your hips, large gold buttons up the front and decorative front pockets, it mirrors Chanel's iconic boucle jackets and knitwear, giving you a luxury look for less. The New Look Cardigan also has an open knit weave that keeps it cool and breathable, so you'll be able to get plenty of wear out of it all summer long. Although the cream option is giving us the biggest Chanel vibes, you can also pick it up in black and pale pink colourways, and they're available in sizes 6 to 22. If you want a bolder pattern, Finery London's £49 Velma Black Stripe Crochet Cardigan has a scalloped black and white striped print, with a similar rounded neckline and boxy fit. Over at Roman Originals, you can nab the Black Textured Boucle Button Knit Cardigan for £25 down from £40. It has a very Chanel-esque look with a thicker boucle weave and contrast trims, meaning you can wear it all year round. However, New Look's Open Knit Button Detail Cardigan has also been getting plenty of rave reviews from shoppers, who've given it a 4.3 star rating. One said: 'Great items for summer. Lovely quality and perfect fit.' Whilst another shopper wrote: 'Nice cardigan looking forward to wearing it when on a city break next month.' The only less than five star review said: 'Pretty and comfortable, was a little creased from packaging. I was planning to take it on holiday so I'm not sure how it would pack. It is lightweight. The buttons are pretty stiff to fasten. I did like it but returned as another one I'd ordered worked better.'

Boden shoppers love 'gorgeous' and 'flattering' sale dress you can 'wear for years'

Shoppers praised the dress, complimenting the 'gorgeous' colour, 'flattering' cut, and 'perfect' fit Boden has discounted a "gorgeous" and "flattering" tea dress that's loved by shoppers. The Bright Blue Cynthia Button Tea Dress is on offer for £95.20 from £136. The dress is also available in a rich emerald colour; however, only the blue polka dot style is reduced in price. Available in petite or regular, the dress is usually stocked in sizes four to 22, but some sizes have sold out. According to Boden, the dress is easy to wear for multiple occasions and shoppers say it can be worn "for years". The product description reads: "While it may look simply divine for afternoon tea, this tea dress is actually oh-so-wearable for multiple occasions – not just ones involving scones." The dress boasts a regular shape designed to fall at mid-calf. It has a lined bodice, a button-fastening front, and a self-tie waist back. The polka dot style is popular with shoppers, with Debenhams offering a similar Roman Polka Dot Ruched Sleeve Midi Dress for £55. Elsewhere, Finery London has a Talise Blue Polka Dot Print Midi Dress on offer for £44.50, and New Look offers an Apricot Blue Polka Dot Midi Dress for £29. Boden's Cynthia Button Tea Dress has been reviewed by shoppers, many of whom have praised the style for its "flattering" fit. One shopper said: "What a beautiful dress. The colour is gorgeous. It is classic and super flattering. It is a bit pricey, but I think I will wear it for years." Another customer commented: "Lovely dress. Fits perfectly and the blue colour is just gorgeous." A third replied: "Love the dress but the fabric made it a bit more formal than I wanted. Ordering very easy, delivery was fast and returns were a breeze. Well done." Meanwhile, someone else thought: "Great color and great cut: I particularly like the fact that the button placket is still lined with fabric, so it is absolutely opaque." However, another wrote: "I loved this dress as the colour and shape were very nice. "However on my 5ft frame it was far too long (ordered petite) and I am normally size 12 in Boden but this dress was huge on me, so sadly had to return." A shopper said: "Easy flowing fabric great colour waist could be a bit lower." A different reviewer agreed: "Great colour! Comfortable to wear waist a bit high!" Elsewhere, someone who purchased the green dress added: "I SO wanted to love this as it is really pretty on the model, but when I tried it on, I felt the pattern was a bit dated, which was confirmed by my very sweet but honest boyfriend who independently described it as "an old lady dress". I bet a different pattern or colour would have been fine as the silhouette was nice. I was hopeful but I had to return it." Boden's sale also includes its Jen Cotton Midi Dress, which is now £56.25, down from its original price of £125. Boden suggests the dress would be perfect for occasions. The product description states: "Holiday, wedding, christening, important work meeting, dinner with friends – get yourself a dress that can tackle any occasion. This one's just the ticket. Lightweight printed cotton is cut to a flowy, long-sleeved shape that's finished with a notch neck and belted waist."

‘This linen co-ord is a must-buy for the heatwave – I've worn it everywhere from the office to drinks'

If you're looking for the perfect versatile co-ord that'll see you through summer, this linen set from Finery London is my top pick – it's ideal for work and casual drinks Whilst we're all loving the sudden heatwave we're experiencing and are keen for the summer sun to finally kick in, it does leave us with one problem – what to wear. Whilst staying comfy in shorts and a vest is great for the evenings and weekends, when you know you've got to head to the office or go out for the evening, you need something a little more sophisticated that'll still keep you comfy and cool. To solve this sartorial conundrum, I picked up Finery London's Vanetia Black Linen Blend Waistcoat for £45 and the Athena Black Linen Blend Wide Leg Trousers for £49. The linen blend set seemed to tick all of my wardrobe needs for making sure I look smart and put together without overheating. Although sold separately, as soon as I saw the pieces paired together on Finery London's website I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. The waistcoat is fitted without being rigid, and the trousers have the right amount of volume and design to keep them office-ready, whilst being flowy enough to be worn for brunch or to the pub. The Vanetia Black Linen Blend Waistcoat was my absolute favourite piece of the two. It was super flattering, with a tie at the back which can be adjusted to make it more fitted or less fitted depending on what you prefer and what the occasion is. Although it's a linen blend, rather than pure linen, I actually preferred this as it kept it lightweight and breathable, without too much creasing. It was also clear just how versatile the waistcoat is, as I could just as easily wear it with some denim shorts or a satin midi skirt as I could with the co-ordinating trousers or jeans. The Athena Black Linen Blend Wide Leg Trousers were also incredibly comfortable and just the right amount of breezy, breathable and comfortable. I loved the adjustable waist tie, and the elasticated waistband made them comfy enough to wear at a desk all day. I did find them a little too wide on the legs – it felt like there was a lot of fabric, and as I'm only 5 foot 4' they were a little overwhelming on my frame. I also opted for the regular length but will probably need to hem them at some point, so I would recommend picking up the short length if you're on the petite side. Both pieces come in sizes 8 to 24, and the trousers do have the option of different leg lengths to help you find the perfect fit. I always love a co-ord, as you can mix and match it with so many things in your wardrobe to get plenty of different outfits, and they were both very comfy and breathable, making them a winner for summer. If you want something a little more colourful that's still both office and weekend ready, these Green Linen-blend Parker Wide Leg Trousers, £65, from Nobody's Child and the matching Green Linen-blend Longline Cami Top, £49, make a great alternative. For some slightly more tailored trousers, these Khaki Linen Blend Wide Leg Trousers (£40) from Simply Be are ideal, especially when teamed with the co-ordinating £46 Khaki Linen Blend Longline Waistcoat – and you can currently get 20% off both with the code VIBES.
