Tesco hikes price of meal deal as expert warns 'shoppers will go elsewhere'

The supermarket has increased the cost of its The Pizza Company offer - which includes a pizza, side and dip - from £6 to £7 Tesco has upped the price of one of its pizza meal deals by £1. The supermarket has increased the cost of its The Pizza Company offer - which includes a pizza, side and dip - from £6 to £7. You need a Tesco Clubcard to get this deal. Some of the pizza flavours included in the offer are Pepperoni Party and the Big Cheese, while sides include Chicken Pops and Cajun Onion Rings. ‌ Tom Church, co-founder of said: 'As prices creep up, people are laser-focused on value. That extra £1 might seem small, but in the middle of a cost of living squeeze it's enough to push shoppers to look elsewhere — unless you're adding something truly special to the deal.' ‌ It comes after Tesco hiked the price of its Tesco Finest Dine In for Two deal from £12 to £15 - an increase of £3. The offer includes one main course, one side, and a dessert, plus an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. Tesco says the move came after it improved its ingredients. It also noted that the meal deal offering still saved customers up to £22.50 compared to buying the dishes separately. Tesco expanded the items available in the Dine In deal for spring. Nine new dishes were added, giving customers the choice of over 25 items for their evening meal. A Tesco spokesperson told Sky News: "We have worked to improve the quality across our Finest Dine In range, investing in the ingredients and recipes, and introducing an updated menu. They added: "Finest Dine In offers great value and is a delicious, convenient alternative to dining out at a fraction of the price." ‌ Meanwhile, the supermarket was recently forced to apologise after some shoppers were mistakenly told they were being awarded £100 in Clubcard points. Tesco recently ran a promotion where customers could get £100 of Clubcard points when they booked an easyJet holiday. However, some shoppers were accidentally sent an email saying they were being given the £100 in Clubcard points - despite not taking part in the offer. The second email read: 'We sent you an email about our Reward Partners on Sunday 11 May (great!). Unfortunately, we mistakenly said we'd added £100 of Clubcard points to your account for booking an easyJet holiday (not so great!). ‌ 'We're very sorry for any confusion we caused, and we hope you have a lovely summer, whatever your holiday plans.' A spokesperson from Tesco said: 'An email meant for customers who had collected £100 of Clubcard points after booking an easyJet Holidays break using Tesco Clubcard Vouchers was mistakenly sent to other Clubcard members. "We are sorry about the confusion and have followed up with an email to the customers who wrongly received the message to apologise.'

The Dine In deal includes one main course, one side, and a dessert, plus an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage and is popular with pairs wanting the restaurant experience at home Tesco has hiked the price of one of its most popular meal deal offerings. The supermarket chain has hiked the price of its Tesco Finest Dine In deal by £3. The Dine in deal for two includes one main course, one side, and a dessert, plus an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. It is popular with pairs wanting the restaurant experience at home, and other major supermarket chains also offer similar deals. ‌ The deal's price used to be £12, but it has now risen to £15 - a 25% rise. Tesco says the move came after it improved its ingredients. It also noted that the meal deal offering still saved customers up to £22.50 compared to buying the dishes separately. However, it is important to note that Tesco's Valentine's Dine In deal also had the same price tag of £15. ‌ A Tesco spokesperson told Sky News said: "We have worked to improve the quality across our Finest Dine In range, investing in the ingredients and recipes, and introducing an updated menu. They added: "Finest Dine In offers great value and is a delicious, convenient alternative to dining out at a fraction of the price." The price hike comes as Tesco expands the items available in the Dine In deal for spring. Nine new dishes were added, giving customers the choice of over 25 items for their evening meal. Other new additions to Tesco's spring menu include a Ranch Steak with Cafe De Paris Melt, Creamy Chicken, Bacon and leek Pie, and Beef Brisket with Bone Marrow and Cabernet Sauvignon Sauce. To whet the whistle, you can choose from alcoholic options such as Finest South African Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc, alongside non-alcoholic alternatives like Coke Zero and Lucky Saint Alcohol Free Lager. As mentioned earlier, other supermarket chains offer their own Dine In deal, with some being much cheaper. Asda's meal deal is one of the cheapest options with a starter, main, side and dessert for £9.97. Meanwhile, at Waitrose, it costs £12 for a main, a side and either a starter or dessert. M&S offers a variety of different Dine In options at different price points.

New Spring-inspired recipes include a Pork Crackling Joint with Cider Jus, Manchego Stuffed Chicken and Lemon & Stem Ginger Posset. The range still includes a number of customer favourites such as Lasagne al Forno and Salted Caramel Profiteroles, alongside a range of drink options including beers, Finest wines and various non-alcoholic alternatives. Tesco said it has improved the quality of the range, but customers have slammed the change on social media. One user on Reddit said: 'Used to occasionally buy at £12 but this pushes it for me, not simply because of the price but because of the greed." Another added: 'I buy them (the meal deal) once a month and was happy at £12 as other half likes the red wine with it but not paying £15.' A third said: 'It was actually an 'ok' deal for £12. For £15 you can just get a nice-ish takeaway. Maybe a kebab.' Tesco said: 'We have worked to improve the quality across our Finest Dine In range, investing in the ingredients and recipes, and introducing an updated menu. 'Clubcard members will pay just £15 for two people, offering a saving of up to £22.50, for a main, side, dessert and drink, including a range of beers or Finest wines, or non-alcoholic alternatives. 'Finest Dine In offers great value and is a delicious, convenient alternative to dining out at a fraction of the price.' I did a huge Tesco haul - their buyers deserve a raise, the dupes are popping off It's not the first time shoppers have got worked up over meal drive prices. In October, ready-meals fans were angry because M&S hiked its popular Gastropub dine-in deal by 25 per cent, from £12 to £15. The deal for two - which includes a main, side and a starter or desert - is among the priciest of M&S' dine-in offers. Earlier this year Tesco increased the cost of its deal on ready meals, with the cost of two of its Finest ready meals rising from £7.50 to £8 with a Clubcard. But while some shoppers feel short-changed by the £15 price tag, Tesco has recently been praised for other value-driven deals. Fans raved over its £3.60 lunch meal deal after the supermarket added Krispy Kreme doughnuts to the snack options. The move was branded 'insane' value by shoppers, with one saying it was a 'game-changer'. A single doughnut usually costs £1.99, meaning you're getting your main and drink for just £1.61. Meal deal mains include sandwiches, pasta pots, wraps, sushi and salads, while drink options range from smoothies and juices to iced coffees and fizzy cans. Snacks now include crisps, fruit, yogurt, olives and even boiled eggs. The lunch meal deal costs £3.60 with a Clubcard, or £5.50 without – making the loyalty scheme more valuable than ever. How to get more from your Clubcard Tesco's Clubcard remains one of the easiest ways to cut costs at the checkout – and beyond. You earn one point for every £1 spent, and once you collect 150 points, Tesco sends you a voucher worth £1.50, which can be used in-store or online. But the real trick is using them with Tesco Reward Partners, where the value can double or even triple – turning that £1.50 into £3 depending on where you spend it. You can boost your points faster by shopping with partnered brands like Vauxhall, Evri, and OVO Energy. For example, buying a new car from Vauxhall could net you 50,000 Clubcard points. Tesco Clubcard vouchers are valid for two years, but if one's about to expire, just spend a small amount of it – and the leftover balance will be reissued with a new expiry. So if you use 50p from a £10 voucher, the remaining £9.50 gets extended for another two years. Clubcard Plus, which costs £7.99 a month, gives shoppers 10% off two in-store shops each month, making it worthwhile if you spend more than £40 each time. You can also earn points by signing up to Shopper Thoughts, a survey platform that dishes out Clubcard points for your opinions. With a few savvy tricks, the Clubcard can still unlock serious value – even as some of Tesco's headline prices go up. Do you have a money problem that needs sorting?
