Open house events for downtown Master Plan

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Thursday, May 8, the Experience Downtown Master Plan Update project team hosted two open houses to allow the community to discuss the vision, goals, and action steps. The goal of the master plan is to make Downtown Colorado Springs a thriving place to visit and work. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Downtown seeks community input on Master Plan On Thursday, two open house events were held in Downtown Colorado Springs. The project team held a Coffee and Chat on the southern lawn of the Pioneers Museum from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The second event was a Walk and Talk from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., where guests had the opportunity to visit some potentially relevant sites and share experiences and wishes for Downtown in a candid and casual setting. Some of the possible ideas for downtown were adding more benches, trash cans, and lighting, along with creating more child-friendly areas, using Fountain Creek as a waterway, and building public restrooms. 'We know that there's been a ton of change downtown over the past couple of decades, and we know there is expected population growth and change to come,' said Finlay Sutton, Senior project associate, Experience downtown Master Plan. 'So we want to make sure that all of that growth related to all the topics I just mentioned are all very cohesive, they suit the public realm, they make sure that everyone who lives and works downtown, health and wellbeing is prioritized.'
