FDA Announces Recall of Crackers in 11 States Due To Undeclared Allergen
On June 5, 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Firehook of Virginia is recalling one lot of Firehook brand Classic Sea Salt Organic Crackers. The crackers were recalled due to the presence of undeclared sesame, which can pose a serious and even life-threatening risk to those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame if they consume these products. According to a press release, the recall was initiated on May 30, 2025, after it was discovered that the sesame-containing crackers were distributed in packaging that did not disclose the presence of sesame. A subsequent investigation revealed that the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's packaging process, resulting in incorrect labels being applied to the product. Only one lot of Firehook artisan-baked Classic Sea Salt Crackers has been recalled at this time. The crackers were packaged in an 8-ounce clear plastic package and have a "Best By" date of Sept. 29, 2025. They also bear the UPC code 8 99055 00063 5. You can view labels of the recalled product's packaging in the press release or on the FDA website. The crackers were distributed and sold at retail stores in 11 states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia. At this time, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. However, if you have the recalled Firehook brand crackers, you are urged to return them to the original place of purchase for a full refund. If you have any questions about this recall, you can contact Firehook of Virginia at 1-888-580-0745, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST. Read the original article on ALLRECIPES
