Lightning's Nikita Kucherov Rewarded For Sensational Week

Tampa Bay Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov has been named the NHL's First Star of the Week from March 24 to March 30. Seeing Kucherov named the NHL's First Star of the Week is entirely understandable. No. 86 dominated during it, as he had three goals and 11 points in just three contests for the Lightning. This included back-to-back four-point performances against the Utah Hockey Club and then the New York Islanders. Kucherov has been excellent all season, and this latest accomplishment only proves that further. With his dominant week, the 2011 second-round pick now has 33 goals, 76 assists, and a plus-21 rating in 69 contests this season. In addition, he is also now tied with Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon at the top of the NHL with 109 points. Lightning's Nikita Kucherov Makes History With Remarkable Stat The Tampa Bay Lightning picked up a 6-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 25. With this, they now sport a 41-25-5 record and trail the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers by two points for the top spots in the Atlantic Division standings. The Lightning also benefitted from Kucherov's spectacular play, as they won all three of their games during the week. With this, they now have a 43-25-5 record and have jumped up to the second-place spot in the Atlantic Division standings. Lakeville's Jake Oettinger pitches shutout as Wild fall to Stars

The Dallas Stars scored twice in a 58-second span in the second period and Lakeville, Minn., native Jake Oettinger pitched a 33-save shutout as the Minnesota Wild fell 3-0 in Dallas on Monday night. The loss snapped Minnesota's three-game winning streak. After a scoreless first period, the Stars (45-21-4) broke the tie when Wyatt Johnson scored on the power play 15 minutes, 1 second into the second period. Just 58 seconds later, Matt Duchene scored again to make it a two-goal Dallas advantage. The Wild (40-26-5) had some Grade-A scoring chances in the third period, including on the power play midway through the frame, but Oettinger turned away each shot. Filip Gustavsson, who was named the NHL's First Star of the Week on Monday, had another strong showing in net for Minnesota, making 26 saves on 28 shots. But the Wild came across a brick wall in Oettinger, and just couldn't get anything past him. Mason Marchment's empty-netter with 44 seconds remaining iced it for Dallas. The Wild outshot the Stars 33-29. Former Wild standout Mikael Grandlund assisted on Duchene's second-period goal and finished with as a plus-one in 18:22 of ice time. Matt Dumba logged 14:09. The Wild return to action Tuesday night when they host the Las Vegas Golden Knights for a 7 p.m. puck drop at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.
