ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Here are your News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award winners for boys hockey.
True two-way defenseman who guided the team to their 16th sectional title in program history.
Labeled the cornerstone of his team as an assistant captain, this player plays every other shift in big games to support his team.
Defensively? He blocks opponents' top players. Offensively, he mans the point of power play and finished in the top 5 of goals and top 10 in points for Section V defensemen.
Showing up when it matters most, he tallied four points in five playoff games, and led his team to the state semifinals.
He was named First Team All State by the New York Hockey Coaches Association.
We award Pittsford senior Drew Rickets as our Elite Award winner for boys hockey at a large school.
This forward had the most goals in Section V this year, with 30.
His 18 power play points also topped Section V and he was third with 29 assists.
A five-year varsity player, in 101 career games, he totaled 111 goals, 118 assists and 229 points — more than a goal AND an assist per game.
He graduates as his program's all-time leading scorer and was a prime playoff performer with eight goals in three playoff games including two in the sectional finals.
