What happened to Boston Celtics forward Reggie Lewis?
What happened to Boston Celtics forward Reggie Lewis? The Celtics dynasty of the 1980s that started under Boston Hall of Famers Larry Bird, Robert Parish, and Kevin McHale looked poised to continue with the rise of Lewis after the Celtics drafted him out of the NCAA ranks. But a hidden health issue would take the young Boston star from his family, friends, team, and fans far too soon, Lewis collapsing on a court with a rare heart issue that would ultimately take his life. Celtics beat writers from that era Bob Ryan and Dan Shaugnessy took some time on a recent episode of the "NBA History and Storytellers on CLNS" show to talk over his untimely loss. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about what was lost -- and what might have been. Have the Boston Celtics found the big man they need for next season in Charles Bassey?
Have the Boston Celtics found the big man they need for next season in Charles Bassey? It is almost unheard of for a player to make as strong of a case as Bassey has for a spot on the Celtics roster in the NBA's 2025 Las Vegas Summer League to date, the Nigerian big man dominating on the boards for the Sin City Celtics. Whether it be a two way deal to later be converted to a full one or a full roster spot outright, fans of Boston are already starting to clamor for the Celtics' front office to hang on to Bassey based on his strong play in Vegas. The Western Kentucky alum has been the story of summer league for the Celtics so far, putting up 18.0 points, 12 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game for Boston while shooting 75.0% from the floor overall and remaining perfect from the free throw line. Advertisement The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took a closer look at Bassey's potential with Boston based on his play with the Summer Celtics. Boston Celtics rookie Hugo Gonzalez was not nervous in his Las Vegas Summer League debut
New Boston Celtics forward Hugo Gonzalez was not at all nervous in his Las Vegas Summer League debut for the Sin City Celtics. Playing like a seasoned vet (though perhaps a bit bothered by the speed of the game in his new league), the Madrid, Spain native put up 12 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks in his first game ever as a member of Boston's roster. The No. 28 overall pick for the Celtics in the 2025 draft did a lot to silence concerned fans worried he might not be able to hang at this level given his limited run with Real Madrid last season with his play. Postgame, Gonzalez took some time to talk to the assembled media about his debut with the team, and how his EuroLeague play prepared him for the NBA. The folks behind the "CLNS Media Boston Sports Network" YouTube channel put together a clip of his postgame chat for us to watch later. Check it out below! Charles Bassey on why he joined the Boston Celtics for NBA's 2025 Las Vegas Summer League
For a player who was not even on the Boston Celtics roster for the Sin City Celtics at the NBA's 2025 Las Vegas Summer League, big man Charles Bassey had an impressive impact in Boston's 92-78 win over the Summer Memphis Grizzlies on Friday (July 11) afternoon. The 6-foot-10 center put up 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks while shooting 7-of-8 from the floor overall. The Lagos, Nigeria native spoke with media after the Celtics win, explaining how he ended up with the Summer Celtics as a last-minute addition, and how the ball club's culture drew him to the team as a potential landing spot. The folks behind the "CLNS Media Boston Sports Network" YouTube channel put together a clip of the interview with Bassey for us to watch later. Check it out below!
