2 Palm Coast teens held up 3rd teen at gunpoint, steal his gun

A pair of Palm Coast teenagers were arrested Thursday in the robbery of another teen at gunpoint, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. One of the stolen items: his parents' gun which he was carrying to 'look cool.' The News-Journal is not identifying the two 16-year-old males accused in the robbery and gun theft because they have not been charged as adults. The teen who was robbed said he met the other two in the parking of the European Village to hang out, according to the sheriff's office. The teen said he wanted to 'look cool' and 'fit in,' so he took his parents' handgun with him, according to the sheriff's office. The three juveniles were sitting in a car when one of the teens pointed a handgun at the teen's head and demanded his belongings. The teen complied and turned over his parents' gun and his money. He then got out of the car, walked home and told his mother, who called 911. Within an hour of the 911 call, deputies found the vehicle involved and 'conducted a high-risk traffic stop' at Lee and London Drives. They found the two teens accused in the armed robbery and theft inside the car. Detectives also found two handguns in a backpack in the car and also found marijuana, the sheriff' office stated. One of the teens, who was the driver, was charged with accessory after the fact, grand theft of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by minor. The other teen was charged with robbery with a firearm, grand theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by minor, and violation of probation. Both teens were transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility for processing before being turned over to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in Daytona Beach. 'This was excellent work by our deputies, Major Case Unit detectives and analysts from our Real Time Crime Center, who quickly identified and apprehended both teenagers involved in this robbery,' said Sheriff Rick Staly. 'This incident could have ended in serious injuries or deaths but the swift action of the victim's parents and our deputies stopped these two before they could commit anymore crimes. Now, they will have to face the consequences of their actions and prosecution under State Attorney Larizza's 'Young Guns' initiative. I urge parents to take proper safety precautions and secure their firearms and remember to be the sheriff of your home.' Palm Coast man hiding in attic crashes through ceiling in K-9 closes in

A wanted man literally dropped in on a group of Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies Monday, May 26: He crashed through the ceiling of a home. Deputies were searching a house when they discovered the man hiding in the attic. As a K-9 climbed into the attic, the man took a wrong step and crashed through the ceiling, leaving a ragged hole. "Hey, you should've just come out, man — that would have been easier," a deputy told the man as he was led away in handcuffs. And it would have saved the cost of repairing the ceiling. Tarod Lovell Weaver, 37, was charged with obstruction without violence and false name/ID given to a law enforcement officer, according to a charging affidavit. He was released on $2,000 bond. On Monday, deputies went to the duplex on Pine Haven Drive with an out-of-county warrant for Weaver. A woman at the door asked why they wanted to talk to her son, according to a charging affidavit. She closed the front door, saying she would get him. Shortly after, deputies found a man with the woman at the rear of the residence. The man gave them a name, but deputies later discovered it was a false identity. Deputies surrounded the house to prevent Weaver from fleeing. Subsequently, the woman and a couple of others walked out the front door. They all claimed not to know where Weaver was, the affidavit stated. The woman consented to deputies searching the house. During the search, deputies found Weaver hiding in the attic, the affidavit stated, and sent a K-9 up to into the attic. "Let me see your hands (and) you won't get bit," a deputy said. Another warns Weaver that the dog is about to drag him out of the attic. But before the dog reached Weaver, he stepped in the wrong spot, according to a body camera video. Weaver then crashed through the ceiling to the floor of the porch, the affidavit stated. A jagged hole was left in the ceiling. A woman, apparently a resident, asked "Who's going to fix that?" Said a deputy: "Not us." This article originally appeared on The Daytona Beach News-Journal: Palm Coast man falls through ceiling as sheriff's K-9 nears

Orlando weather: Brutal heat wave continues with index in triple digits. When will relief arrive?

The Brief The heat wave sticks around in Central Florida on Monday, with temps climbing into the mid-90s. Throw in the humidity, and it'll feel more like the low 100s. A bit of relief from the heat could be on the way later in the week, with a weakening cold front moving in on Thursday. What to expect ORLANDO, Fla. - We're off to a warm start to our Monday morning in Central Florida with temperatures around the upper 70s for some spots. For this afternoon, sweltering temperatures will continue. Highs will soar well into the mid 90s. Once we factor in the humidity, it will feel a lot closer to the low 100s. In southern parts of Brevard County, the sea-breeze will keep temperatures closer to the upper 80s and low 90s. This is what could also help to spark a very isolated and brief downpour or two for far southern Brevard and perhaps southern Osceola County as well. Partly cloudy skies overnight. Warm and muggy. Plan for morning lows to dip down into the low and middle 70s. Looking ahead A strong ridge of high pressure will continue to dominate Central Florida for much of the workweek, keeping temperatures consistent with what we've experienced over the weekend. Highs through midweek will peak around the mid 90s with heat indices reaching the low 100s when factoring in humidity. A small amount of relief from the heat may finally arrive toward the end of the week as a weakening cold front approaches on Thursday. While the front itself isn't expected to be particularly strong, it could help break down the persistent ridge of high pressure and bring a few very isolated showers and storms. Behind the front, temperatures on Friday and into the weekend will remain above normal as highs climb into the low 90s. Orlando weather: Near-record temperatures in sight as highs soar into upper 90s

The Brief Central Florida can expect near-record high temperatures as highs climb into the upper 90s this weekend. Upper 90s will persist through midweek with increasing drought concerns. There is the potential for strong storms by Thursday as a cold front approaches. What to expect ORLANDO, Fla. - The heat is on in Central Florida as this ridge of high pressure is dominating our weather pattern. This means more sun and more hot conditions as we progress through our Friday. Highs surge back into the mid to even upper 90s in some isolated spots. Feels like temps could rise to near the century mark so be sure you're taking breaks in the A/C. Overnight, lows stay above normal as well, dipping back to near 70° under a starry sky. Temps stay toasty to kick-off the weekend with highs even warmer. We'll be likely challenging some records too! Afternoon readings top out in the upper 90s with heat index values again near 100° if not a touch hotter. Lows dip back into the lower 70s along with just a few clouds. Looking ahead After some drought relief from all the rain last week, the dry conditions prevail as we progress through the upcoming workweek. This will worsen the drought once again. This, combined with a summer sizzle, will make it feel unbearable at times outdoors. Temperatures stay well above average, climbing back into the upper 90s from Monday through Wednesday of next week. The heat is combined with plenty of sunshine, so be sure you remember your sunscreen and hat! The ridge of high pressure holds strong through midweek, but we then start to see some changes developing by Thursday. This ridge looks to break down as a cold front moves our way. With the heat, comes lots of instability, and we'll also have some "dynamics" in the atmosphere. With that, some stronger to potentially severe storms could be on the table. This will be something we'll be watching! Track live when storms move across your area using the FOX 35 Storm Tracker Radar below. Orlando weather: Thunderstorms, showers moving over Central Florida; See live radar

The Brief Central Florida can expect another round of showers and storms on Monday. With more "wind energy", all forms of severe weather will be on the table. This includes hail and gusty winds, as well as a brief tornado or two. ORLANDO, Fla. - Monday is a FOX 35 Weather Impact Day as Central Florida braces for another round of showers and storms. Track live when storms move across your area using the FOX 35 Storm Tracker Radar below. What to expect The workweek is starting off on an unsettled note thanks to a storm system on the approach. We started the morning with widespread heavy rain, and we're going to see another round this afternoon. As this area of low pressure continues to work eastbound, widespread showers and storms will move in. The atmosphere will be more dynamic, which could help make for a few stronger storms. With more "wind energy", all forms of severe weather will be on the table. This includes hail and gusty winds, as well as a brief tornado or two. The question mark is, will we be able to destabilize the atmosphere? If we don't get much sunshine, the atmosphere will remain stable, keeping the severe weather threat minimal. It is an Impact Day so be sure to keep tabs on that FOX 35 Storm Team App. With the clouds and rain around, it is looking cooler, with highs closer to 80°. Overnight, showers and storms will start to taper off with lows dipping back into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Looking ahead Tuesday is looking much drier as a whole, but I don't think we'll be completely rain-free. An isolated storm or shower is possible as this upper-level area of low pressure is essentially overhead. Most will stay dry though. High temperatures look to rebound back into the middle and upper 80s under a mix of clouds and sunshine. Partly cloudy conditions are on the docket Tuesday night as lows fall back into the middle and upper 60s. Looking ahead This slow-moving upper-low is still spinning across the Southeast on Wednesday, but it'll be lifting away from Central Florida. This could still spark a spotty shower or two but most won't see any rain at all. Chances are slim, at only 10%. The drier trend continues late week as a ridge of high pressure builds across the Southeast. That means more warmth and more sun for Central Florida. Highs surge back up to close to 90° Thursday along with plenty of sunshine. The trend of heat and abundant sun prevails into next weekend. Highs surge back up into the lower 90s on Friday with temps topping out in the middle to potentially even upper 90s by Saturday.
