Tej clears interview for commercial pilot training
Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav is now set to take to the skies, having cleared the interview for commercial pilot training. The former Bihar minister, known for his spiritual posts as a follower of Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna, has secured the fifth rank among 18 candidates who passed the interview. The list of successful candidates has been released by the Directorate of Flying Training, a part of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Tej had appeared for the interview in the 2023-24 cycle for admission to the commercial pilot licence (CPL) course and has now qualified for entry into the Bihar Flying Institute. The document shared by Tej Pratap is a Flight Radio Telephone Operator's Licence (Restricted), known in aviation circles as RTR(Aero). Issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, this certificate primarily authorises its holder to handle aircraft radio communications, a critical skill in aviation but not a licence to pilot an aircraft. The licence, bearing number 5430/2, was originally valid from April 26, 2011, to April 25, 2021. However, a duplicate copy was re-issued on February 24, 2025, likely for official record or credential reaffirmation. Can Tej Pratap Actually Fly a Plane? The RTR(Aero) is an auxiliary licence that accompanies other pilot certifications. It is issued only to candidates who already possess either a Student Pilot Licence (SPL) or a Private Pilot Licence (PPL).
