‘Daredevil: Born Again' Director Hints Foggy's Faked Death Theory May Have Legs

Daredevil: Born Again With the excellent finale of Daredevil: Born Again, it seemed to confirm that a long-running fan theory about Foggy Nelson faking his death wasn't true. The idea was that similar to a comic book run, Foggy's death may have been an illusion and he ended up being in witness protection, recovering from his injuries. There was even a reference to that storyline in the show itself, the number 468, the issue number, shown briefly in a scene. However, that theory seemed to bend to the point of breaking when it came to the events of the finale when it was confirmed that Vanessa Fisk ordered the hit, which had to do with her control of the port, and had Bullseye make it look like a revenge slaughter. But director Aaron Moorhead was asked the question directly in a THR interview and he…did not exactly dismiss it. Here's what he said: This confirms that yes, the easter egg was put there on purpose. And this entire answer says that this entire thing is still supposed to remain an open question. I don't know why you wouldn't just swat it down so fans don't get wild expectations for season 2. Being this coy makes me suspicious. And things like the fact that Bullseye didn't just shoot Foggy in the head or the heart instantly kill him, given his perfect aim, remain suspicious. Daredevil Then there's good old Deborah Ann Woll, Karen, who said outright in interviews that Foggy would be back in season 2. Ignoring this entire theory you may imagine that could just be in flashback sequences (especially as Matt and Karen unravel how all this happened), but it could be more than that. Foggy has not been spotted in the (copious amount) of leaked set shots so far, but it's possible whatever scenes he may have aren't being filmed on the streets of New York. The idea that Karen knows Foggy is alive and is hiding it from Matt would not appear to be true, however. No, they're not going to throw Foggy in a Lazarus Pit or anything (he'd have to switch universes for that), but the door still feels open on this theory even if the finale did its best to dismiss it. Because the director won't, that keeps it alive. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Bluesky Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.

Episode 8 Should Be When ‘Daredevil: Born Again' Stops Being Underwhelming

Daredevil: Born Again It has been a pretty weird first season of Daredevil: Born Again, a show that allegedly threw out its first draft that everyone hated and made a completely new show. But…it has not seemed like a completely new show, with original problems like a lack of Foggy and Karen happening in the end, and Matt being out of the suit for interminable stretches of time. What happened here is weird and finally, is about to change tonight. While there are certainly bits and pieces of the original concept that were changed, it's pretty clear that something like that initial Bullseye fight was added after the fact (or that entire episode), or the intense one-off scene with the Punisher that wasn't in the original script because Jon Bernthal didn't even want to show up for that series. But now in episodes 8 and 9, those are reportedly ones that took place completely after the rework of the original script, and essentially will be all-new content that, guess what? Is going to deliver fans what they want, including the apparent return of both Karen and Frank for major roles, which should carry into next week's finale. Daredevil: Born Again Of note, the directors of episodes 8 and 9 are Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who did episode 1 (which again, may not have existed at all before the rework), but directed none of the other ones. Similarly, Dario Scardapane is one of the writers across those same three episodes, with no part in the others. Scardapane is the showrunner with Benson and Moorhead as the lead directors, who were all brought in after the original was killed. You can see how this is not a coincidence and some messiness clearly happened here. Supposedly season 2 will start from scratch with those three leading it, and as such, should not be a disjointed as season 1 has been. We already know that Deborah Ann Woll's Karen is returning in full, and she made an odd comment in an interview about Foggy returning as well, possibility in a flashback, but there are also comic storylines where he faked his death. Muse is also supposed to be back after his cut-short storyline where he was killed last week, and may resurrect in some form like again, has happened in the comics. If season 1 was supposed to fix the original draft of Born Again, it didn't. Now, that's down to these final two episodes which it already stands to reason will be significantly better, and then a second season that can fully be its own thing without any baggage from the original. At least we hope so. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Bluesky Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.

‘Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Spoilers Fly With New Set Leaks

Daredevil: Born Again Disney I've previously said that I have never seen a show attempting to spoil itself ahead of time as much as Daredevil: Born Again, whether that be through its own trailers or cast interviews, at least one of which telegraphed a big death outright at the start of the series. Now, of course, there are more spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, now that it's filming in New York, this time through set shots that Disney does not seem to be trying to prevent. It's somewhat unavoidable when shooting in a big city, I suppose. These are plastered all over my timeline given that I enjoy the current season of Born Again, so the algorithm wants to just show me all these season 2 images I could have done without. Plus, there are other supposed leaks we know about. So, if you want the spoilers, read on, as I might as well talk about them since I couldn't avoid them in the first place. The main thing shown here is Matt's new suit, which is not only pitch black, unlike his others and pulling from one of his comic suit variants, but perhaps most importantly, he finally has the interlocked 'DD' logo, which he will have gone four seasons without, even if maybe he gets it in the Born Again season 1 finale. The suit does look very cool, and these set shots are so clear they may as well be production stills. There are other spoilers we know about already, some cast-driven, some insider-driven. I love Deborah Ann Woll but wow, she sure loves talking about things she shouldn't be talking about. First, she said that she would be in season 2, both revealing she wouldn't be killed off in season 1, but also would be a big part of that story. Second, she said her and Foggy would be back. This has lent some weight to the idea that Foggy may have faked his death like in a comic run, or he may just show up in some flashbacks, which does seem more likely at this point. Daredevil's own showrunner, Dario Scardapane, said that despite being a main season 1 villain, Muse will return for season 2. Given that we just had our first real Muse feature this week, and there are only a couple episodes left this season, it stands to reason that yes, his story may not be wrapped up that quickly. Still, why say that now? Daredevil Born Again Disney This isn't confirmed but it seems exceedingly likely that after season 1, Jon Bernthal's Punisher won't be back. He has a 'feature' mini-movie planned on Disney Plus later, but Bernthal is exceptionally busy with a number of projects, most pressingly Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which of course would no doubt take precedent over anything else. That's what we think we know for now, and sure, I will look forward to seeing that suit in action, even if we have a pretty clear shot of it now. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. [Spoiler] Might Not Be Dead in Daredevil: Born Again After All—Inside the Twist That Would Change Everything

Daredevil is back and with his usual Hell's Kitchen crew—temporarily, at least. Matt Murdock makes his big return in Daredevil: Born Again and we see him happy with his associates Foggy Nelson and Karen Page. The crew is celebrating a police officer's anniversary at their usual pub Josie's. It's all lighthearted smiles and flirtatious banter among the group, but Foggy gets called to step out of the pub and onto the streets of Hell's Kitchen. All while doing so, Benjamin 'Dex' Poindexter is scouring the rooftops trying to plan the perfect revenge for his enemy Daredevil. It all happens so quickly, so we'll break it down for you below. More from StyleCaster Charlie Cox Tried to Blind Himself During Daredevil-It 'Got Really Old, Really Quick' Is [SPOILER] Really Dead In Venom: The Last Dance & What Does It Mean For the Future?Foggy died from a gunshot wound to the back of the chest. While he was taking a call from a frantic client who apologizes for selling him out to Bullseye, the foe takes aim at him from another rooftop with a sniper and shoots at the lawyer. Matt immediately hunts down his enemy using his heightened senses and has a showdown with him. Dressed as Daredevil and the show donning it's signature one shot scenes, he hears the fading heartbeat of his best friend and throws Bullseye off the roof. Bullseye survives thanks to his reinforced skeleton after he was paralyzed in season 3 of Daredevil. However, it takes a toll on Matt who moves to another law firm, and Karen, who moves all the way to the other coast of San Francisco. He also pushes for the maximum amount of punishment for Dex in court. 'The effort and conversation that went into that,' amongst everybody, 'was absolutely enormous,' Moorhead recalls, 'and we think that one of the reasons that people got behind it is they knew how serious what was happening during and at the end of that shot is. Making [Foggy's death] the end of one of Daredevil's legendary one-take fight scenes for us was a way to begin his eulogy.' Though, Marvel's Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum told Phase Hero that it won't be the last that we'll see Foggy and Karen. 'Without going into spoiler territory, I will say that both Deborah and Elden are coming back for Season 2,' the executive said of the actors. So will they follow the comic books and bring back Foggy? Bullseye killed Foggy so that he could exact revenge on Daredevil, even though Wilson Fisk was the one who paralyzed him. However because Dex didn't know that Matt was Daredevil by the end of Daredevil Season 3, he might have done all the work to know his secret identity and who he hangs out with. It marks the end of a chapter of Nelson and Murdock, and it's going to have a tough blow on Matt for the rest of the season. 'When that was talked about in the beginning, I couldn't quite get my head around that,' Charlie Cox told TV Line. 'I often think of Foggy Nelson as the heartbeat of the MCU. He's integral to Matt's life, Matt's history… and Elden has done such a beautiful job with that character for so many years.' He continued, 'I understand … that we need to make a big splash. We want to rock the boat early on and draw people in in a new way. [Killing Foggy] is one way to do it, but it's a big choice.' The directors of the show also told the site that Foggy's death will have a lasting effect for the rest of the season. Aaron Moorhead recalled planning out Foggy's death, 'it needs to be an atom bomb on the lives of everybody in this show. It needs to ripple out not just for that episode or that moment [but] through Episode 9. And it does.' ‘Daredevil: Born Again' Fans Mourn That Shocking Premiere Death: ‘Sobbed So Much I Almost Threw Up'

The first two episodes of 'Daredevil: Born Again' are now streaming and sadly, the first 16 minutes of the premiere bring a devastating, shocking death. Yes, Foggy Nelson is gone, and fans are in mourning. When we first reunite with Foggy (Elden Henson), Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), it's at the end of a day at Nelson, Murdock and Page, the firm promised at the end of season three of the original Netflix series. As always, they head to Josie's for a drink. But while there, Foggy gets a call that leads him outside, only for him to be shot in the chest by Bullseye (Wilson Bethel). Matt's able to catch up to Bullseye as Daredevil, and as they fight, Matt listens to Foggy's heartbeat slowly stop, as the lawyer dies in Karen's arms. It's a devastating opening sequence, and come Wednesday morning, fans were still shaken by it, with one dubbing it 'the most sickening, heartbreaking and shocking 15 minutes of a new season in a tv show.' Naturally, given the fact that characters have come back from death in the MCU before — and certainly on the original 'Daredevil' series — some fans immediately began telling themselves that Foggy's death isn't permanent. 'Ok guys here's how foggy is actually alive and undercover/it was all a dream/matts in psychosis/this is all VR,' one fan theorized. Another suggested that Foggy might get the Bucky Barnes treatment, coming back as a super soldier in season 2 of 'Born Again.' Naturally, Foggy's death causes something in Matt Murdock to snap, leading him to truly try and kill someone for the first time ever, throwing Bullseye off a roof when he hears Foggy's heart stop. According to Cox himself, 'going forward, he will spend a lifetime trying to reconcile that moment.' The good news is, both Deborah Ann Woll, whose character ended up moving to San Francisco following Foggy's death, and Elden Henson are both set to return for the second season of the series. It remains unclear in what capacity. For now though, longtime 'Daredevil' fans are simply processing the news, mourning Franklin Percy Nelson, the great Avocado at Law. You can see more reactions to his death below. The post 'Daredevil: Born Again' Fans Mourn That Shocking Premiere Death: 'Sobbed So Much I Almost Threw Up' appeared first on TheWrap.
