Engineering proposals sought for Ogdensburg pool rehab project
Apr. 13—OGDENSBURG — The city is seeking request for proposals for engineering and architectural services for a project that would rehabilitate the Elsa M. Luksich Municipal Pool.
"The City of Ogdensburg is seeking professional engineering and architectural services to provide design, planning, and optional construction oversight for the rehabilitation of the Elsa M. Luksich public pool and bathhouse complex," stated bid documents released by the city.
Requests for proposals, required to be submitted in electronic form to jashley@ must be submitted by 1 p.m. May 22 to be considered.
The project at the Elsa M. Luksich Municipal Pool, constructed in 1994, will be funded through a $2.5 million grant through the New York Statewide Investment in More Swimming (NY SWIMS) initiative which offered a $150 million investment to support pools in underserved communities throughout the state.
The $2,508,000 grant was awarded to the city, the lone recipient in the north country, at the end of last summer.
The project aims to "modernize and enhance this vital community recreational facility," stated the bid documents. "The City seeks to rehabilitate the facility to improve safety, accessibility, and functionality while enhancing the user experience through modern amenities such as a splash pad and upgraded shade and seating areas."
Renovations include replacing the pool surface, decking, filtration system and plumbing, making the facility accessible for individuals with disabilities and modernizing its bathhouse.
"Having a city pool is wonderful, but constant upkeep and maintenance is a challenge for any community. This grant will transform our facility and bring it into the 21st century with state of the art amenities including a splash pad and much better accessibility for our residents," said City Manager Fonda Chronis stated at the time the grant was awarded.
