Tim Hortons cookies are smiling on Hamilton food banks and charities
Buy a cookie and you'll be giving more than crumbs to a local charity.
A few dollars will buy you a Smile Cookie at Tim Hortons this week. This year, the cookies are chocolate chunk topped with pink and blue icing smiles. And, your purchase also gives it all back to local food banks and charities.
The annual Tim Hortons spring Smile Cookie campaign runs until May 4, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to the area's chosen charity.
Around Hamilton, cookie purchases help support Hamilton Food Share and Food4Kids, Food Banks Canada at the McMaster site, Flamborough Food Bank in Dundas and Empowerment Squared in Binbrook. Check out the

Last year, the cookie campaign sold more than 197,000 cookies in the Hamilton area. That's a record-breaking $295,935.84, said Tim Hortons in a press release. Nearly $18.8 million was raised across Canada, the release added.
You can pick up a cookie or two in store. Preorder is available for bulk amounts; just give the store 24 hours' notice.
For the first time since the program began in 1996, a reversible plush Smile Cookie toy is also available for sale as part of the campaign.
Let the grin begin.
