Junior League of Wichita Falls Food Fight 2025

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The Junior League of Wichita Falls is gearing up for Food Fight 2025, but they need your help to succeed. This annual food drive benefits the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank and is one of the crucial events that helps fight hunger for those in need throughout the community. To put things in perspective, last year, they raised over 12,000 pounds of food. When you do the math and convert that into meals, they can give over 10,000 meals to the community. With one in six Americans facing food insecurity, the Junior League emphasizes collective action's importance. The Junior League of Wichita Falls has placed boxes at several businesses throughout the city, asking people to donate what they can to the cause. The league hopes to provide essential resources to families struggling to put food on the table. All donations go directly to the Wichita Falls area food bank. The food bank has been a vital resource for local families, and events like Food Fight are crucial in keeping it operational. Wichita Falls has the 14th highest food insecurity rate out of 197 food banks in the entire network. That speaks volumes on how serious this issue is. Organizers hope to surpass last year's donations and continue making strides in the fight against hunger. 'People just spent a lot of money during the Christmas season. And now when it comes to donations, people are still in need, and we're still in need of those donations, just like we were for Thanksgiving and Christmas,' Wichita Falls Area Food Bank's Marketing Director, Zachary Graham, said. 'We've got stuff coming up, kids are in school now, and so we really just need that help for the parents and for the students that are going hungry in our area,' The goal for this year is 15,000 pounds of food. So, start gathering donations now and either drop them off at participating businesses or come out to Market Street at United Market Street, 4590 Kell Blvd., from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 1 to donate.
