Kendrick Lamar and SZA at State Farm Stadium: Ultimate Phoenix concert guide
Kendrick Lamar is bringing his Grand National Tour with SZA to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. The tour is in support of 'GNX,' a surprise release that topped the Billboard album chart in late November 2024, Lamar's fourth consecutive release to do so. The Grand National Tour launched on April 19 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis to glowing reviews. The Minnesota Star Tribune raved, "The biggest takeaway from Saturday's Kendrick Lamar concert … was confirmation of what Twin Cities (hip-hop) lovers already suspected from his previous, smaller shows: He's the G.O.A.T.' Billboard wrote, 'If Kendrick's stage show is a masterclass of a laser-focused vision, SZA's is a revelation of creative energy.' And USA TODAY weighed in: "The pair showcased how dichotomous stagecraft and differing cadences can lead to a beautiful collision." This is the Pulitzer Prize-winning hip-hop icon's first metro Phoenix concert since 2022, when the Big Steppers Tour played Footprint Center (now PHX Arena) in downtown Phoenix in support of his "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers" album. In 2018 he brought the Top Dawg Championship Tour to Ak-Chin Pavilion (now Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre) in Phoenix. SZA headlined Footprint Center in 2024 in support of "SOS," a second album that topped the charts and made the rounds of year-end critics' lists, from BPM to Consequence and Brooklyn Vegan. The album sent five singles to the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, including the chart-topping "Kill Bill," which went five times platinum. SZA and Lamar topped Billboard's Hot 100 earlier this year with 'Luther,' and went Top 10 with '30 for 30,' adding to their list of hit collaborations. And of course people are still talking about the Super Bowl 2025 halftime show that Lamar and SZA performed in New Orleans. Here's everything you need to know about the Kendrick Lamar/SZA concert at State Farm Stadium. Kendrick Lamar and SZA will be joined at State Farm Stadium by DJ Mustard.
