Inaugural ‘Winsday' event being held at Churchill Downs
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) – It's being described as a beacon of community spirit and philanthropy.
'Winsday,' which is being held for the first time in 2025 at Churchill Downs on Wednesday, is meant to be a day that not only has a light shining on the track and all the amazing things that happen there but also shining a light on all the amazing things nonprofits do in the community.

Churchill Downs is partnering with the Community Foundation of Louisville, putting a spotlight on 50 nonprofits based in the Louisville area.

A portion of all ticket sales on Wednesday will go toward the participating nonprofits and the work they do.
One of the organizations participating in Winsday is For Lady's Sake.
The Louisville-based nonprofit is focused on ending period poverty, providing period products to women and gender-diverse individuals who are in need.

Founder & CEO of For Lady's Sake, Candice Crawford, said period poverty is greater than a woman not having period products; she said there is a lack of education, with oftentimes people not thinking of period products as a necessity.
Crawford said being one of the organizations selected to be a part of the inaugural Winsday is massive.
Whether they get $5 or $5,000 through Winsday, Crawford said, just having the opportunity to get their message out will help set For Lady's Sake up for long-term success.
'The fact that they have partnered with local nonprofits to expand their impact beyond just the let's make money piece said a lot about the organization as a whole, and I really think it brings a positive light to the city,' Crawford explained. 'Folks realize I can have a good time, and I can do something for a good cause, too. That means a whole lot to not just us, but the other 49 organizations that are involved.'

Crawford said once they get the money from Winsday, they plan on expanding their period pods program.
These pods make period products available 24/7. Crawford hopes they will be able to put more pods in more areas, not just in Louisville but across Kentucky.
