Michigan man dies after fiery semi crash in Reno County
TURON, Kan. (KSNW) – A Michigan man has died after a fiery crash involving a semi in Reno County.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Kansas Highway 61 near South Olcott Road, two miles east of Turon.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2024 Ford F150 Pickup driving south on K-61 collided head-on with a semi-tractor hauling a trailer driving north. The semi left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch. The Ford became fully engulfed in flames.
The driver of the Ford, 68-year-old Martin P. McLaughlin of Michigan, received fatal injuries.
The driver of the semi, a 44-year-old man also from Michigan, was taken to an area hospital with suspected injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the KHP.
There were no other occupants.
