Troy police: DUI suspect was four times over drinking limit while driving
The Brief Troy police are warning drivers to stay safe behind the wheel. Police say they received several calls from drivers warning of someone in a Ford Super Duty truck swerving. As of Thursday evening, it is up to the prosecutor to decide the fate of this driver and whether he'll face the super drunk charge. TROY, Mich. (FOX 2) - Troy police are reminding drivers to stay safe behind the wheel after officers arrested one driver for being four times over the legal alcohol limit. What they're saying It was Wednesday, April 30, just before 8 p.m. when Troy police say they received several calls from drivers warning of someone in a Ford Super Duty truck swerving—heading south on I-75 and at one point veering off into the right shoulder. Officers were able to catch up with the 36-year-old driver from Clawson at the Rochester Road exit. This is where the police say they stopped the driver, arresting him right there in the parking lot. "Obviously, very scary, dangerous thing to think about putting everybody, not only himself, at risk, but everyone else on the road at risk," said Troy police Lt. Ben Hancock. "This is one that, you know, comes up every few weeks or a month or two." What's next Meanwhile, officers are anticipating more reckless drunk driving. "When it gets warmer, I would say there is a bit of an uptick, and then, specifically around the warmer holidays like Memorial Day and July 4th, things like that, sometimes people overindulge, and then they meet up with us on the road," Hancock said. Troy police are gearing up, planning to beef up patrol on the roads but hoping drivers take responsibility and play it safe before drinking and driving. "The consequences are really not worth it to get behind the wheel intoxicated," said Hancock. "The best thing is to, you know, make a phone call to a friend or a family member, or there are always the ride-share options to get home safely." As of Thursday evening, it is up to the prosecutor to decide the fate of this driver and whether he'll face the super drunk charge again, given he was four times over the alcohol limit, according to police. The Source FOX 2 talked with Troy police for information on this report.

The Ram Power Wagon Could Get a Diesel Engine
The Ram Power Wagon is the automaker's heftiest version of its heavy-duty pickup truck, but with one huge caveat: there is no diesel engine available. According to a Ram powertrain engineer, though, that could change in the future. Granted, the available V8 engine is a Hemi, but it still doesn't match the staggering output of the turbo-diesel engine that's available in Ram's other trucks, and also puts it a step behind both Ford and General Motors. View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article According to Car and Driver, a Ram powertrain engineer was willing to give some insight into the Ram Power Wagon, specifically regarding customer requests. According to the engineer, customers have been clamoring for a diesel option in the brand's hefty off-road pickup. "We hear what's going on," the Ram engineer told Car and Driver. "If there's an opportunity there, then we can engineer it." Interestingly, the Power Wagon is the only truck in the brand's heavy-duty lineup without an available diesel powertrain, and it boils down to the placement of a winch. The Ram Power Wagon comes with a front-mounted winch, which gets in the way of the intercooler found on the pickup's turbo-diesel siblings. Unfortunately, there's no specified timeline for when the Ram Power Wagon could get the diesel treatment, but it definitely won't be happening for the 2025 model year. Other heavy-duty Ram trucks like the Ram 2500 and 3500 have a 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder engine that produces an astounding 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Power Wagon's 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine generates 405 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, a far cry from the diesel powertrain's muscle. The Ram Power Wagon is a perfectly capable truck in its own right, but the lack of a diesel option puts it behind competitors. The Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado both feature heavy-duty trucks packing diesel engines designed to maximize trailering weight and off-road capability. The Chevrolet Silverado HD packs an available Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine that generates 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic transmission. With that kind of muscle, the Silverado HD can tow up to 36,000 lbs., nearly double that of its gas-powered 6.6-liter V8 engine. The GMC Sierra HD line shares that same diesel engine option. The Ford Super Duty's diesel powertrain delivers best-in-class muscle. The high-output version of the Power Stroke 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine delivers 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful trucks in the industry. When properly equipped, the Ford Super Duty can tow up to 40,000 lbs. That's not the only diesel engine available in the Ford Super Duty. The standard variant of the Power Stroke 6.7-liter turbo diesel V8 engine produces 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of which diesel engine comes under the hood of the Ford Super Duty, power is channeled through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Getting the Ram Power Wagon on par with its American competitors is a step in the right direction for the Stellantis-owned brand. The umbrella company hasn't exactly had the best go of it recently, with former head honcho Carlos Tavares exiting unexpectedly last year. On the bright side, the Ram Power Wagon crossing over to the diesel side would mean an increase in towing and off-road capability. At the very least, a handful of the truck enthusiasts in my neck of the woods will have their prayers answered - eventually, anyway.

Law roundup: Man curses cult reportedly stalking him
Mar. 16—A man called the Kalispell Police Department reportedly yelling and cursing about a cult stalking him and he wasn't making much sense to the dispatcher. A woman allegedly hung out in a store's bathroom for an hour and a half and the manager wanted her gone. A man, who appeared to be in his 30s, allegedly shoplifted blue spray paint and fled on foot. Officers reportedly detained two men and a woman who were passed out in a running vehicle. An ambulance was called to respond but was not needed. A man was reportedly concerned a woman's ex was dealing drugs in front of her children. Someone had questions about keeping chickens within the city limits. A man went to the police department alleging he was threatened and yelled at the previous week but couldn't remember where other than "in an area of his house," and wanted to speak to an officer. A parent picking up his child at a school complained that it was inappropriate for three men, who were possibly drinking, to be hanging around the school by "graffiti rock" with stuff strewn around them. The group told an officer they would clean up and move along. Two vehicles parked in spots designated for guests reportedly overstayed their welcome and an employee at the location wanted them towed away. Someone thought the driver of a gray Ford Ranger was drunk when he allegedly "couldn't do so well" backing into a parking spot and stumbled away when he got out of the vehicle. A man called the police alleging a homeless woman he let stay at his residence was hiding in his garage trying to take items after he kicked her out and gave her her belongings. He said he had kicked her out several times and locked all his doors but she had a "psychotic break and was volatile." Responding officers attempted to call him back but the number was disconnected. Officers tried to make contact at his house but no one was home. A man was reportedly assaulted by his house guest multiple times and told officers he was also worried about his roommate's mental health. After an alleged 30 years of harassment and stalking by his ex-wife's family, a man reported his concerns, saying he recently found a note on his car and then had a flat tire. He also saw someone sitting in a vehicle next to his car who drove off when he got into his vehicle. Officers advised him on how to apply for a temporary restraining order. A man driving a white Ford Super Duty truck reportedly cut off another vehicle several times and was passing recklessly. On the "final pass," after reportedly trying to push the vehicle off the road, the reckless driver flipped the other driver off.
