Dutch king to visit Japan next week for World Expo in Osaka

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands will visit Japan next week to attend the World Exposition being held in the western city of Osaka, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said Tuesday. During his two-day stay from May 21, the king is also scheduled to have dinner with Japan's Emperor Naruhito, the ministry said, adding that the visit is expected to further deepen the friendly relations between the two countries. Dutch Foreign Trade and Development Minister Reinette Klever will accompany the king, while Economic Affairs Minister Dirk Beljaarts will also make a trip to Japan around the same time, with the latter set to lead an economic mission focusing on high tech and digitalization, according to the ministry.

He will hold talks with Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita, Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Ghita Mezzour, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali, and Minister of Economy and Finance Fouzi Lekjaa. The discussions will focus on strengthening trade and economic ties between Finland and Morocco. Following a series of meetings in Rabat, Minister Tavio and the Finnish business delegation will continue their visit to Casablanca. The agenda also includes initiatives to promote exports, and Tavio will visit the city of Tangier, home to the largest container port on the African Atlantic coast, where several leading Finnish companies in the ports and logistics sectors are active. «Morocco represents a promising market for Finnish companies and serves as a strategic gateway to Africa», Minister Tavio said. He added, «With the Kingdom preparing to host the 2030 World Cup finals alongside Spain and Portugal, there are numerous infrastructure projects underway where Finnish companies can offer world-class solutions».

Rabat — Finnish Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio is making an official visit to Morocco from April 28-30, 2025, to explore investment opportunities in the North African country. The delegation will include companies, aiming to boost Finnish exports and strengthen economic ties between the two countries. During his stay in Morocco's capital, Tavio plans to meet with several high-ranking government officials. On the agenda, the Finnish minister has scheduled talks with Morocco's Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour, Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita, Digital Transition Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Energy Transition Minister Leila Benali, and Budget Minister Faouzi Lekjaa. The talks will tackle opportunities to develop bilateral and commercial ties between the two countries, with the goal of building new strategic partnerships. Following Rabat, the delegation will visit Casablanca, where Tavio and Finnish business representatives will participate in several economic promotional meetings. Among the companies represented are AMG Technologies, Confoot, Ecosir Group, Kalmar, Metso, Nokia, Vaisala, Wirepas, and Wärtsilä. These firms operate in various sectors ranging from industrial technologies to logistics, energy transition, and digital transformation. They hope to seize the many opportunities offered by Morocco's economic dynamism. In February of this year, both countries showed willingness to boost business collaboration in key sectors such as water, health, and digitalization. New Delhi: In an effort to diversify its trade partnerships and explore new markets, India has actively engaged with Croatia and the Netherlands. Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal met Zdenko Lucic, State Secretary for Foreign Trade and Development at the Ministry of Foreign And European Affairs in Zagreb, on April 22, 2025, strengthening bilateral trade ties and exploring investment opportunities, a post on social media platform X by the Indian embassy in Croatia, said. Croatia is also important for India because recently, the country re-elected President Zoran Milanovic. During his visit, Commerce Secretary Barthwal also held a meeting with key Industry leaders. The Netherlands is India's 11th largest merchandise trading partner in the world and the largest in the European Union during FY 2023-24. The total merchandise trade with the Netherlands stood at USD 27.333 billion (Rs 226,360 crores) during FY 2023-2024, accounting for 2.45 per cent of India's total merchandise trade. India has a trade surplus of USD 17.40 billion (Rs 144,160 crores) with the Netherlands. For FY 2024-25 (April-Nov), the Netherlands is India's 9th largest merchandise trading partner, with a total trade of USD 19.62 billion (INR 164,407 crores) and a trade surplus of USD 12.971 billion (Rs 108,545 crores). The Netherlands is India's largest merchandise export destination in Europe and the third largest in the world (after the USA & UAE). In the FY 2023-2024, India exported USD 22.367 billion (Rs 185,260 crores) worth of goods to the Netherlands.
