Shah's presence at Yogi govt event today is significant, say UP watchers
Lucknow: The presence of Union home minister Amit Shah at the Lucknow event to distribute appointment letters to the newly recruited 60,000 police constables on Sunday will have much more than a symbolic value. When chief minister Yogi Adityanath met Shah in Delhi on June 9, the pictures of the meeting went viral, becoming a hot topic of discussion in political circles. Although it was officially termed a 'courtesy visit', sources in the UP govt told TOI that the CM called on the home minister primarily to extend an invitation to him to be the chief guest at the ceremony being organised on June 15 for the distribution of job letters to 60,000 police constables recruited recently. Although it's a police event and the Union home minister is a natural choice to be the chief guest for this momentous occasion, it's not as simple as that in this case, say political analysts. "Shah's presence at this event of UP govt is significant considering he has not attended many such events in the past in the state," they say.
