OG Fortnite may have as many as 92 bots per match

Has your competition in Fortnite ever felt a bit… off? If so, Epic's minimum real player counts may be to blame. A leaker with a proven track record claims (via Polygon ) that the game's OG version can sometimes be populated with over 90 percent bots. The leaker AllyJax used a Discord bot called The Dub to find the number. (Among its other features, the tool lets you count the number of real players in a lobby.) "The minimum real player count has been reduced from 25 to as low as 8 in Fortnite OG ," AllyJax wrote. "There is a probable chance you can have matches with 92 bots." AllyJax says this only applies to Fortnite OG . That's the mode that lets you play the game's original map as it was in 2017. (It also includes old-school loot and seasons.) Epic brought the game mode back for good in November after a 2023 trial. In a vacuum, companies like Epic using bots isn't necessarily a bad thing. For starters, they can be used to shorten wait times for matches. The AI rivals can also size up new players' abilities, leading to better matchmaking. Their counts can change over time as publishers weigh these factors against the number of people playing. (AllyJax suggests Fortnite 's can change from month to month.) But being surrounded by as many as 92 bots and only seven other humans is… probably not what you signed up for. Engadget emailed Epic for a confirmation or comment. At the time of publication, we haven't heard back. But we'll update this story if we do.

Is Fortnite down? Servers to go offline before Fortnite OG season three launches

Fortnite is scheduled to go down on Tuesday morning as Epic Games prepares to launch an update that will kick start Fortnite OG season three. For those out of the loop, it is the throwback mode that lets players revisit remixed versions of classic seasons from chapter one, when the battle royale first took off. The latest update will introduce a new OG Pass packed with modified versions of classic skins and cosmetics. Here's what you need to know about Fortnite downtime, including when the game will be back online. Fortnite is due to go down at 9am in the UK as part of planned maintenance and Epic will disable matchmaking a few minutes beforehand. As a result, none of the game's main modes will be playable, including Battle Royale and Zero Build. Don't miss the (Lucky) your eyes peeled. OG Season 3 launches tomorrow. — Fortnite (@Fortnite) March 24, 2025 Players who try to log in will be stuck on a loading screen until Epic finishes implementing the latest update. In the past, downtime for smaller updates like Tuesday's have lasted three hours, and the game came back online at noon in the UK. Rewinding the clock to 2018, Fortnite OG season three will bring at least seven reworked skins inspired by classic outfits. It's unclear whether these remixed designs will be split between the new OG Pass and the Fortnite shop but eagle-eyed fans have already spotted fresh takes on Raven, Rex and the Astronaut in Epic's latest teaser. The clip showcases a nostalgic arsenal of weapons, including guided missiles, the hand cannon, hunting rifle, heavy shotgun, clingers and the ever-chaotic port-a-fort. As the season unfolded, shooting stars began streaking across the sky before transforming into small meteorites that pelted the island. Then came the big one – a massive meteor that loomed over the map before crashing into Dusty Depot, leaving behind the Dusty Divot crater. Inside the impact zone, players discovered a mysterious pod containing the Visitor – a pivotal character who would go on to shape Fortnite's tangled lore. Season three introduced new customisation options for the first time, including contrails, back blings and loading screens, further cementing its legacy in Fortnite history.
