Electrical fire causes major damage to funeral home on West Side
CHICAGO — An electrical fire caused significant damage to a funeral home on the city's West Side.
The fire broke out around 3:35 a.m. Thursday at Fountain Jordan Shepard Funeral Home Inc., located at 418 South Cicero Avenue.
Chicago Fire Department spokesperson Larry Langford said the cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature, and appears to have started in the break room.
The fire is considered to be accidental.
The son of the funeral home owners told WGN News the establishment opened in 1990. While he refused to comment, he was in disbelief looking at the extensive damage.
