World's sexiest woman is a 59-year-old model, beat Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, Margot Robbie, Rihanna, Megan Fox, Gal Gadot

From 2021 onwards, fashion and lifestyle magazine Maxim made a small change to its annual Maxim Hot 100 list. The number 1 entry, the cover star, is now crowned the world's sexiest woman. With People and FHM having discontinued their lists ranking the sexiest female celebrities between 2015 and 2017, Maxim's list is the only high-profile one remaining. And in the most recent list, the winner was a 59-year-old who beat some of the most attractive and popular celebs on the planet right now. (Also read: World's most beautiful woman is a 62-year-old actor who beat Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts, Beyonce, Angelina Jolie) The cover star of the 2024 edition of Maxim Hot 100 was model-turned-actor Elizabeth Hurley. At 59, she was also the oldest winner of the title of the world's sexiest woman. In October 2024, after Maxim unveiled the cover featuring Hurley, the magazine released the full list of the 99 other women. It showed just who Liz Hurley beat for the top spot. The 100 featured actors Sydney Sweeney, Margot Robbie, Zendaya, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Lily Collins, alongside musical stars like Miley Cyrus, Sabrina Carpenter, Jennie Kim, and Dua Lipa. Fashion icons Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber, and Kaia Gerber also made the list. In the past, Rihanna, Megan Fox, and Gal Gadot have also been part of the Maxim Hot 100. The English model rose to fame in the late 80s doing small roles in British films, but it was her personal life that made her a tabloid favourite. Elizabeth first rose to prominence after she was romantically involved with Hugh Grant. Her 1994 appearance at the London premiere of his film Four Weddings and a Funeral, in a plunging black Versace dress held together with gold safety pins, gained her instant media attention. Her famous 'Got Milk' ad campaign in the late 90s made her popular in the US too. Over the years, Hurley appeared in films like Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Bedazzled, and more. Hurley is the mother of Damian Charles Hurley, whom she had with American businessman Steve Bing after her breakup with Hugh Grant. From 2007-11, the actor was married to Indian businessman Arun Nayar. She later became engaged to cricket legend Shane Warne before their separation in 2015. In April this year, Hurley announced that she was dating American musician Billy Ray Cyrus, father of popstar Miley Cyrus.

Esther Krakue on the ‘sad' story of Wallis Simpson's later life

Writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue examines the latter part of Duchess Wallis Simpson's life and how 'quite sad it was'. Upcoming biopic 'The Bitter End' will look at the last days of the Duchess of Windsor's life, directed by Mike Newell of Four Weddings and a Funeral fame. 'We really don't understand the emotional toll that it must have taken for them to exit the royal family and effectively be banished to France,' Ms Krakue told Sky News host Caroline Di Russo. 'For her to basically be exiled from everyone, including her family, and dying alone as a woman ... it must not have been easy.'

Andie MacDowell cuts a casual figure in a blue striped shirt dress and denim jacket as she leaves her hotel during 78th Cannes Film Festival

Andie MacDowell cut a casual figure on Tuesday as she was spotted at the luxurious five-star Hotel Martinez during the Cannes Film Festival. The American actress, 67, looked effortlessly chic in a blue striped shirt dress paired with a stylish denim jacket, as the day's events began to wind down. Beaming for the cameras, she toted her essentials in a black leather shoulder bag and let her grey curls cascade freely over her shoulders. For the evening, Andie opted for a naturally radiant makeup look as she prepared to explore the city. Earlier in the day, the Four Weddings and a Funeral star showcased a more polished look, stepping out onto her hotel balcony in a cream power suit. She completed the elegant ensemble with a crisp white shirt, featuring gold-toned buttons, and a coordinating gold handbag. This year's Cannes Film Festival is taking place in the wake of Trump's vow to enact tariffs on international films. Cannes, where filmmakers, sales agents and journalists gather from around the world, is the Olympics of the big screen, with its own golden prize, the Palme d´Or, to give out at the end. Filmmakers come from nearly every corner of the globe to showcase their films while dealmakers work through the night to sell finished films or packaged productions to various territories. 'You release a film into that Colosseum-like situation,' says Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho, who´s returning to Cannes with 'The Secret Agent, a thriller set during Brazil ´s dictatorship. 'You´ve got to really prepare for the whole experience because it´s quite intense - not very far from the feeling of approaching a roller coaster as you go up the steps at the Palais.' Trump sent shock waves through Hollywood and the international film community when he announced on May 4 that all movies " produced in Foreign Lands" will face 100% tariffs. The White House has said no final decisions have been made. Options being explored include federal incentives for U.S.-based productions, rather than tariffs. But the announcement was a reminder of how international tensions can destabilise even the oldest cultural institutions. The Cannes Film Festival originally emerged in the World War II years, when the rise of fascism in Italy led to the founding of an alternative to the then-government-controlled Venice Film Festival. In the time since, Cannes´ resolute commitment to cinema has made it a beacon to filmmakers. Countless directors have come to make their name. This year is no different, though some of the first-time filmmakers at Cannes are already particularly well-known. Kristen Stewart (The Chronology of Water), Scarlett Johansson (Eleanor the Great) and Harris Dickinson (Urchin) will all be unveiling their feature directorial debuts in Cannes´ Un Certain Regard sidebar section. Many Cannes veterans will be back, too, including Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning), Robert De Niro - who's to receive an honorary Palme d´Or 49 years after Taxi Driver premiered in Cannes - and Quentin Tarantino, to pay tribute to low-budget Western director George Sherman. The much-anticipated eighth and final instalment of Mission: Impossible is one of the earlier premieres on this year's Cannes calendar, with its glitzy red carpet taking place on Wednesday, May 14. Meanwhile, Scarlett's directorial debut, Eleanor The Great, will be unveiled on May 20. However, in the wake of his legal battle with former co-star Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni is not expected to attend. Over recent years, the star-studded extravaganza has arguably won more attention for the outfits worn by its celebrity guests than the roster of feature films being screened on the Croisette. But new nudity rules, devised for 'the sake of decency,' will be implemented when French director Amélie Bonnin's Leave One Day opens the ceremony this week. According to organisers, the austere move is an attempt to stifle the celebrity trend for 'naked dresses' - namely provocative outfits that reveal considerably more than they conceal - on the red carpet. 'For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as any other area of the festival,' states a Cannes festival document. 'The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.' The surprise new policy features in a recent festival-goers charter - released with a series of outlines regarding expected public behaviour. Guests are expected to converge on the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière for some of the highest profile film screenings across a packed seven-day schedule in Cannes. It's understood that the iconic venue now adopts a more conservative dress code, with suits, dinner jackets, and floor-length evening gowns generally favoured over headline-grabbing ensembles. Classic little black dresses, cocktail dresses, pant-suits, dressy tops and elegant sandals, 'with or without a heel', will also be permitted. While the decision to implement a more stringent policy will be a first, it is not known if French TV broadcasters, wary of airing nudity, played a role in its enforcement. Major red carpet events, including the Cannes Film Festival, are aired in France by France Télévisions. Recently attracting more models and influencers than actors and filmmakers, the annual ceremony has seen an increase in risque red carpet fashion statements. In 2021, American supermodel Bella Hadid bared her cleavage in a plunging black gown while attending a screening of Tre Piani (Three Floors). She pulled a similar stunt three years later, with guests at the 2024 gala left speechless after she attended the premiere of Donald Trump's biopic The Apprentice completely braless beneath a sheer brown evening dress.

Race Across The World narrator is huge nineties movie star with famous actress wife

Viewers may love the action of Race Across The World but the BBC show's "gentle commentary" has also received praise by fans who have discovered the very famous face behind the voice With no flights and no phones, five duos are attempting Race Across The World 's ultimate challenge as they embark on a 14,000km trek across Asia. Now in its fifth series, the latest line-up of contestants includes a teenage couple as well as a pair who were formerly married – and the show has already brought us plenty of dramatic moments. But while viewers may be caught up with the teams' triumphs and travel disasters, the narrator of Race Across The World has got people at home talking after realising he's a huge nineties movie star. Narrated by actor John Hannah, film fans will be familiar with the 63-year-old's extensive career on our screens having racked up an impressive career. ‌ ‌ Born in East Kilbride to a cleaner mother and toolmaker father, John has previously opened up about his childhood during an interview with The Guardian in 2014. 'My family lived in a little terraced council house in East Kilbride, Scotland 's first new town, and it was a brilliant place to grow up. The street was full of parents with young children the same age,' he said. 'My childhood memories are like everyone else's in the late 60s and early 70s – endlessly playing football in the street and being at each other's houses. I don't remember school at all – I remember summer holidays and endless sunshine. There probably wasn't any sunshine, but it feels like there was.' Although he initially trained as an electrician, John embarked on a very different path when he later studied acting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Since then he hasn't looked back. In 1994, the Scottish actor secured his breakthrough role in Richard Curtis ' iconic romcom Four Weddings and a Funeral where he played the role of Matthew. The role even saw John nominated for Best Actor In A Supporting Role at the BAFTAs. After being catapulted into the spotlight, four years later John played Gwyneth Paltrow 's love interest in Sliding Doors. As well as this, John's other big screen credits include The Mummy, Damaged and Overboard. On our TV screens, John has starred in many high profile shows including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Frasier and Black Mirror. He also appeared in the 2021 New Year 's Day special of Taskmaster alongside Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Nicola Coughlan, Rylan Clark-Neal and Shirley Ballas. ‌ However, it's Race Across The World that many fans adore him for. '#RaceAcrossTheWorld it's great listening to John Hannah's gentle commentary again,' wrote one person on X. 'The John Hannah voice over really adds to Race Across The World,' added another. Away from his glistening career, John is married to actress Joanna Roth after meeting her at the National Theatre when they played opposite each other in Measure For Measure. Having been 'enormously attracted' to her, John invited Jonna for a picnic in Battersea Park, though things didn't go as planned. 'I was leading the way. Then, at a set of traffic lights, I put on the brakes without enough warning and Joanna ran right into the back of me,' he told MailOnline. ‌ 'I looked in my mirror and she was slumped over her steering wheel – in embarrassment, as it turned out. But I didn't know that. I scrambled out of my car, raced over to hers, gently eased her out and started comforting her.' Despite the rocky start, the pair's relationship has stood the test of time and they are parents to twins. During lockdown John discussed his life with Joanna, telling The Telegraph about his dreams to give up acting for a year. 'I dream about taking a year my wife Joanna and living somewhere like Buenos Aires in Argentina – and we think about that even more, now that we can't travel,' he said. 'We'd like to rent our house out to give us a bit of income, then spend all our time flamenco dancing and drinking caipirinhas. I like the idea of escaping being an actor for a year and working in a café somewhere very far away.'
