Renowned Boston TV anchor will give keynote speech at Framingham State commencement
FRAMINGHAM — Boston news anchor Latoyia Edwards will deliver the keynote speech at Framingham State University's undergraduate commencement ceremony this spring, the university said in an announcement. Edwards, known for her work with NBC10 Boston and NECN, has been a prominent figure in New England journalism for more than two decades. She was named one of Boston Magazine's Most Influential Bostonians in 2023. 'Her inspiring journey, commitment to community engagement and dedication to storytelling as a vehicle for making connections resonate deeply with our mission to empower students to lead with purpose and integrity,' Framingham State University President Nancy Niemi said in a prepared statement. FSU's undergraduate commencement is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the DCU Center in Worcester. In addition to her speech, Edwards will also receive an honorary doctoral degree during the event. She joined NBC10 Boston and NECN as a morning reporter from WWLP-22 in Springfield, where she was a weekday anchor. Edwards has also worked as a health reporter, weekend anchor and evening news anchor, eventually landing her favorite role as morning news anchor. A native of Boston's Dorchester neighborhood, she graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College with a degree in broadcast journalism. She is actively involved in volunteering with youth groups like Girls Inc. of Lynn, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, Worcester and Greater Lowell, Save the Children, EVkids and the Boston Arts Academy.
