An unfortunate act of young people allegedly hanging onto delivery trucks to steal food items has claimed the life of a 20-year-old in Delft.
Aiden Langenhoven, who is alleged to be one of the boys known to steal from delivery trucks in the area, died on Wednesday after yet another delivery jacking.
Delft Community Policing Forum (CPF) public relations officer, Francois de Bruin, confirmed the incident that took place at Voorbrug and Delft Main Road at the 7/11 circle.
'Langenhoven attended Roosendal High in Delft and it is believed that there was attempts to take cool drinks off a delivery truck as was and still is unfortunately the case at these hotspots in Delft Main Road, where these kids are being used to do the bidding of hardened criminals.
'Neighbourhood Watch, SAPS, the community and CPF are at our wits end and we concede its really a problem at these hotspots, however, CPF/SAPS want to salute the NHW who have identified the operating timeslots when these boys operate.
'As precautionary measures we ask motorists to try not to have valuables of any kind in open bakkies where possible.'
