Culture Minister meets Dutch delegation, urges Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories
Minister of Culture Ghassan Salamé on Friday received Dutch Ambassador to Lebanon Frank Mollen at the National Museum, accompanied by the Director General of Antiquities, Engineer Sarkis Khoury, and a visiting Dutch diplomatic and parliamentary delegation currently in Lebanon to assess various local developments. The meeting focused on the security situation, particularly in South Lebanon. Minister Salamé briefed the delegation on daily violations and ceasefire breaches by Israeli forces, including the continued occupation of five strategic points. He emphasized 'the urgent need for international cooperation to exert pressure on Israel to vacate these occupied sites,' stressing that 'the Lebanese Army is exerting maximum effort to extend its authority across all Lebanese territory, especially in the south, in accordance with the government's approved plan, and is doing so with discipline and professionalism.' Prior to the meeting, the delegation toured the National Museum, where North Mount Lebanon site officer Tania Zaven provided an in-depth explanation of the museum's treasures, including Phoenician-era artifacts such as ceramics, jewelry, ivory, statues, and anthropoid marble sarcophagi dating back to the 4th century BC. The tour also featured votive statues from the Temple of Eshmun discovered in Bustan Al-Sheikh, also from the 4th century BC, among other historical pieces.

Dutch ambassador discusses judicial reform, Beirut port blast probe with Lebanon's Justice Minister
Dutch Ambassador to Lebanon Frank Mollen described his meeting with Justice Minister Adel Nassar as "very interesting and highly beneficial." Following the talks, Mollen said that the minister reaffirmed the importance of judicial reform in Lebanon to ensure its independence, efficiency, and service to the people. "I was pleased to hear that," he added. The two also discussed the investigation into the Beirut port explosion, with Nassar expressing hope that Judge Tarek Bitar would be able to complete the probe soon successfully. The minister reiterated his support for judges, emphasizing their independence, the significance of their work, and the need to earn and maintain public trust. "I believe he is doing a great job," Mollen said.

Discussions centered on Lebanon's governance and the challenges facing the nation, particularly the direction of the new government. The issue of Syrian displaced persons was a key focus, with both sides stressing the need to facilitate their return to Syria. Gemayel underscored the importance of restoring full state sovereignty, emphasizing that all weapons must be under the exclusive control of the Lebanese state. Ambassador Mollen was also briefed on the Kataeb Party's reconciliation initiative, which he praised as a significant step toward national cohesion. The ambassador was accompanied by Jasper Kapteijn, Second Secretary for Political Affairs.
