Moroccan and Zambian parliamentary leaders discuss reforms and collaboration in Rabat

The President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Tuesday in Rabat with Frank Moyo, President of the Reform and Modernization Commission and Vice-President of Zambia's National Assembly. Moyo was accompanied by a parliamentary delegation on a working visit to Morocco. According to a statement from the House of Representatives, the visit aims to explore Morocco's parliamentary experience and includes field visits to major development projects across the country. The discussions centered on the respective parliamentary systems of both nations, including the composition and structure of their institutions, the organization of parliamentary work, their missions and responsibilities, and relations with other branches of power and institutions. On this occasion, Rachid Talbi El Alami outlined Morocco's parliamentary experience, highlighting reforms introduced by the 2011 Constitution and the House of Representatives' key roles in legislation, government oversight, policy evaluation, and foreign relations. He also showcased ongoing initiatives by the House, particularly in digital transformation and promoting an open parliament. He emphasized its commitment to civic engagement and highlighted the work of the Petitions and Motions Committee in legislative processes. For their part, Frank Moyo and the Zambian delegation presented the structure, composition, and functions of Zambia's National Assembly, as well as the role of the Reform and Modernization Commission. This working visit forms part of efforts to share experiences and strengthen ties between the two legislative bodies. Moyo emphasized its importance in deepening understanding of Morocco's parliamentary model.
