Seshego police launch manhunt after man burned to death in suspected mob attack
Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the Motinti village mob killing, warning that vigilantism is a serious crime.
Police in Seshego have launched a manhunt after a 28-year-old man was killed in a suspected mob justice attack in Motinti Village on Saturday, May 31.
The incident occurred around 1.30pm, when officers on patrol were alerted to an attack in progress. On arrival, they found the victim lying on the ground with severe head injuries and burns across his body.
Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene but declared the man dead on arrival. While the man has been identified, police say his name will be released at a later stage as investigations continue.
The motive for the attack remains unknown.
Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the killing, warning that vigilantism is a criminal act. 'Anyone found involved in such criminal act is supposed to face the full might of the law,' she said.
