The new Hong Kong course golfers can play 2 years before it's even built
The first new golf course in Hong Kong in almost 30 years will not be finished until late 2027, but prospective members can already play the 18 holes that await them.
Being built on a former landfill site in Tai Po, the 6,600-yard course will boast the latest technology on, off and underneath the Fray Straka-designed course, from water catchments and sand capping to a Trackman-powered simulator of the entire par-71 challenge.
And for those who want a really close look at what is coming, a VR headset allows them to stand on the greens and fairways as they will eventually be – without even needing to leave the city's Central district.
With wait times for membership of other private courses in the city occasionally stretching into decades, Plover Cove has set up an office where lessons and club fitting with former DP World Tour player Alex Hu Diandian sit alongside the simulator and a bar with sweeping views of Victoria Harbour.

'As Hong Kong's likely final private 18-hole championship course, we've brought this visionary project to life through cutting-edge technology – including Trackman simulators and immersive VR – enabling guests to experience the course and clubhouse without ever setting foot on the construction site.'
