More than $16,000 raised for local backpack program
More than $16,000 was raised at a recent event, looking to stock kids up with supplies for school.
FreeHelpCK held the 8th annual Operation Backpack Fundraiser in Chatham-Kent, seeing a great turnout.
Between a car show and vendors on site, the group will be able to fill many backpacks for the community. It hopes to stuff 3,000 with school supplies.
Organizers said the support was overwhelming. There are two months left to hit FreeHelpCK's goal of $75,000, the biggest goal to date.
