‘Bro lost all his aura': Lando Norris walks into wall at Spanish Grand Prix
Lando Norris may be flying on track this season, but at the Spanish Grand Prix, he hit an unexpected obstacle, literally. The McLaren driver walked straight into a wall outside his team's motorhome in Barcelona in a moment that's gone viral across social media. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Ahead of Saturday's Free Practice Three session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Norris was chatting with a fan when he lost his bearings and attempted to walk through what he thought was the entrance to the McLaren motorhome. Instead, he walked directly into a wall. Video footage shared on Instagram by a user, captured the moment: Norris bumps into the wall, briefly stares it down, then breaks into a sheepish grin, laughing off the blunder with the fan beside him. 'Bro lost all his aura,' joked one social media user, as fans flooded comment sections with playful banter. Fortunately, the incident was harmless—and off-track only. Norris has been in fine form on the tarmac. The 25-year-old Bristol native went fastest in Free Practice One on Friday, finishing more than three-tenths ahead of the next driver. He later posted the fourth-fastest time in Free Practice Two. The Spanish GP weekend follows Norris' stunning win at the Monaco Grand Prix, a breakthrough victory that moved him within just three points of current World Drivers' Championship leader—and McLaren teammate—Oscar Piastri. If Norris wins in Spain, it would be the first time in his F1 career that he's achieved back-to-back race victories. Norris' steady rise this season has placed him squarely in the title conversation. After several seasons of promising performances but no wins, his recent momentum has signaled a potential shift in the balance at McLaren—and in the broader championship race. While the wall incident gave fans a good laugh, Norris' focus remains razor-sharp as he continues to chase down the top spot in the standings.

At Spain's Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Norris went fastest in Free Practice One by more than three tenths, before clocking in fourth during Free Practice Two later on Friday. But ahead of Saturday's Free Practice Three the 25-year-old made a huge gaffe in the F1 paddock. As he went to walk into the McLaren motor home, Norris was seen speaking to a fan. But his angry scowl quickly melted away in the Catalan heat and was replaced by a beaming smile as he was able to laugh at his accident. Another said: "It gets funnier every time you watch it." A fourth joked: "I'm counting this as an injury therefore he's winning." Norris put in his best lap of the weekend when he eventually got behind the wheel of his McLaren in FP3. But he was still not quick enough to match Piastri, who clocked in a 1:12.387 which was more than half a second faster than Norris. While the two McLaren's battle it out, they need to be careful of four-time world champion Max Verstappen, who remains just 22 points behind Norris as he eyes a fifth title in a row. Speaking to reporters on Thursday about his championship chances, Norris said: "It's a great feeling to be in the lead of the championship and to have more points than everyone, but it's not something I look at. "It's not something that changes anything I do day to day. It doesn't change how hard I work or what I try to achieve. "I just try to win this weekend and I'll try and win in Montreal and I'll try and win in Austria. It's got nothing to do with what position I am in. "I think mathematically probably the whole grid can win the championship. I think there's plenty of opportunities. "Max can still win, I think Ferrari -- I expect them to get better into the season." Iconic F1TV and Channel 4 commentator Alex Jacques revealed his verdict on this year's "ludicrous" title race. Speaking exclusively to SunSport, he said: "I really loved it because you've got three drivers at totally different stages of their careers. "You've also got Lando Norris, [who] came in as the pre-season favourite. "Can he deal with the expectation on his shoulders? And Oscar Piastri, exceeding expectations for where he is. You've got the McLaren drivers trying to win their first championships. "You've got Max trying to make history and emulate the great Michael Schumacher. "And he'd only be two behind the all-time record if he gets five with a lot of his career still to go. It's a wonderful dynamic. The qualifying sessions have been so tight. "We've not had a gap between first and second. that's been over a tenth. "That is ludicrous. We used to have gaps between first and second of a second back in the early 90s. F1 is ultra-competitive, we're having a great season." Spain's Barcelona circuit, which has been a venue for the sport since 1991, could be hosting its last Grand Prix after F1 chiefs signed a deal for Madrid to host a new hybrid street race from 2026. Although Barcelona track chiefs are still hopeful of hosting races alongside the Madrid venue.

F1 star says 'I couldn't avoid it' after hitting a rabbit in Imola GP practice
The Formula One circus swings into Imola this weekend, though one driver had an unfortunate incident during Friday's free practice sessions as the Emilia Romanga Grand Prix got underway Alpine star Pierre Gasly insisted there was nothing he could do to avoid running over a rabbit during the first practice session at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Gasly has endured a miserable season, picking up just seven points from the first six races. He enters this weekend's race in Imola with a new team-mate in the form of Franco Colapinto and a new team boss in Flavio Briatorie. It appears the fiery Italian has had an immediate impact since replacing Oliver Oakes. Gasly came home in a solid sixth place in Free Practice One, before landing the third-quickest time in Free Practice Two. But the Frenchman was forced to recover from a bizarre incident during first practice. During the opening session, Gasly's car collided with a rabbit which had been crossing the track. The animal made a massive impact with the front of the Alpine car. Gasly insisted afterwards that he had been unable to avoid the incident. But he hailed his team for repairing the car quickly enough for it to come home in an impressive third place in the second session. He said: 'Very sadly, I couldn't tell if it was a small cat or a big rabbit - it turned out it was a big rabbit - just jumping across the track. I couldn't avoid it so I had quite a big impact on the front wing. "Unfortunately that was it for the rabbit and for the front wing it was not ideal. Not the end of the session we wanted. I must say it's quite unfortunate. Obviously we always try to look after our parts and do the best job we can. "So when such things happen it's not great. Quite a bit of damage on the front wing and the floor but the guys managed to do great work to repair it. But I think we could have done without it.' McLaren scored a one-two in both of Friday's sessions, with Oscar Piastri twice leading Lando Norris. And having finished just behind the duo, Gasly was left hailing his 'best Friday' of the year so far. 'It's been a very, very good Friday. From the first lap I could tell the car was in a much better place than in Miami. I'm glad we managed to answer some of the question marks we had after the last race," Gasly added. "Very pleased with the feeling in the car, the car reacts the way I want. I'm really able to be at the limit and push it to the maximum, so it's a nice feeling. The performance is there, obviously we know from Friday to Saturday the others usually keep a bit more in their pocket. "But I think it's quite fair to say it's probably been the best Friday so far this year. We know that the field can have all come slightly closer together on Saturday. "But, with what I'm feeling at the moment, if we manage to keep that momentum, find a little bit more pace for tomorrow, I think we should be in the mix for the top 10 which is exciting. I'm pleased and excited to see the rest of the weekend.'
