Cannes 2025: Aishwarya Rai dazzles in strapless black gown, fans recall 2010 Red carpet moment
After making headlines with her desi avatar at Cannes 2025, Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opted for a body-fitted black gown. Pictures and videos from her red carpet moment have surfaced on social media. She was accompanied by her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan this time. For the day 2 look, Aishwarya wore a body-fitting strapless black gown, along with a silver cover-up around her. She was accessorised in diamond rings and earnings while her bold red lipstick took the spotlight of her look. This time, she ditched her signature sleek, straight hair and opted for soft curls. In several videos, Aaradhya was seen holding Aishwarya's hand as the mother-daughter duo left for the venue together. On the red carpet, the actress struck her signature namaste pose, representing India at the French Film Festival. 'Cannes isn't Cannes without Aishwarya Rai's namaste pics at the stairs,' added another. Aishwarya is attending the festival as the global ambassador for L'Oréal Paris. She walked the red carpet on Wednesday in a stunning white saree look. On day 1, she wore a white saree from Manish Malhotra with golden embellishments and a golden border. Her saree came with a long pallu on her left with a flowy train-like extension on her right. Her look was accessorised with traditional Indian jewellery made out of diamonds and red rubies. She was at the premiere of The History of Sound. Many reports claimed that Aishwarya paid tribute to Operation Sindoor with her day 1 appearance in which she had a rare sindoor look. Sharing details of Aishwarya's look from day 1 at Cannes, designer Manish Malhotra posted pictures on Instagram. He tagged Aishwarya and called her the 'OG queen of Cannes'. French Film Festival Aotearoa 2025 comes to Waikato
Alliance Française Hamilton president and Le Rendez-Vous Samantha Wiria said the creperie wanted to team up with Lido during the festival so moviegoers could have 'a full French experience'. The creperie is also changing its operating hours and offering discounts to festivalgoers who can provide a ticket when they order. 'People can come before or after [watching a film] to the creperie.' Wiria said the taste of authentic French food would also help to extend the atmosphere of the festival, the feeling of the 'French moment'. 'I think that the French cinema has something special,' Wiria said. 'Each time the French festival has been here, the quality of the movies is very high. 'It's always a special period of the year.' Alliance Française Hamilton secretary Catherine Neazor Brady said she was most looking forward to seeing the festival's opening night picture Monsieur Aznavour. 'He sang really famous songs like La Boheme which are all going to be in the movie.' Neazor Brady said the film, which tells the story of Charles Aznavour, France's Frank Sinatra, was a must for anyone who liked musical biopics. Alliance Française Hamilton centre manager Marie-Christine Richard said Aznavour was 'iconic'. 'He has been a pillar representing what the French song is all about. So it's very classic.' Richard said audiences would enjoy French cinema's emphasis on soul, story and history. 'I think that people are really missing a good story.' She said festivalgoers would also leave the theatre with good conversation. 'The endings are very puzzling. They open the possibility for reflection because sometimes French cinema is very ambiguous.' Which French Film Festival movie should I see? How to Make a Killing – a dark comedy set against spectacular scenery for people who are not very familiar with the French language. Eve, who has been making waves in the movie world herself, didn't attend the premiere of her father Bono's film, which had its world premiere at the French Film Festival. Instead, she was seen enjoying a sporting occasion as she pitched up at Madison Square Garden to watch the Knicks shoot some hoops in an NBA match. Lies We Tell tells the story of an heiress whose shady uncle plans to get hold of her fortune by forcing her to marry his son. It was a big winner at the Irish Film Awards, including best actress for star Agnes O'Casey (Small Things Like These) The wedding banquet is a remake of the 1993 crowd-pleaser, written and directed by Ang Lee. This one stars Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars), Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) and Joan Chen (Twin Peaks).
