Tonight's Northern Lights opportunity – and much warmer temperatures ahead!

FROST ADVISORY for southeastern Nicholas and Pocahontas counties from 1 AM to 8 AM Monday. Temperatures dropping into the mid 30s could result in frost that could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation if precautions aren't made to protect them. Tonight features mostly clear skies, which will still look a bit hazy at times with smoke visible in the sky from Canadian wildfires. That should create a really nice sunset tonight once again! With a northwest breeze that will wane in intensity as the night progresses and clouds continuing to thin out, temperatures will plummet, as we fall back to into the low 40s. A Frost Advisory is in effect for portions of Nicholas and Pocahontas counties tonight where temperatures in the sheltered valley spots could dip close to the mid 30s. A strong geomagnetic storm is ongoing, which could allow for faint aurora viewing after dark. Your best bet to see the aurora is with your phone after dark, since their lenses are more sensitive to light than our eyes. The aurora activity should be the strongest in our region around midnight. Smoke from the Canadian wildfires could cause occasional issues viewing, but there should be opportunities. Good luck! Patchy fog is possible after midnight toward dawn. Monday continues the sunny pattern we saw on Sunday. By the afternoon, high pressure will be just to our west toward Cincinnati – so we will have a westerly flow, which is still a wind flow that will keep temperatures from jumping up much from Sunday as highs reach the low 70s. The haze from the Canadian wildfires will be sticking around at least for a couple of days. Though the smoke is not resulting in particularly poor air quality, those sensitive to compromised air quality may want to consider taking extra breaks when outside. Tuesday sees temperatures jump about ten degrees for highs as high pressure shifts to our east. That will enable a southeasterly breeze to kick in, which is a warm and dry air flow. As a result, we will see high temperatures jump all the way up into the low 80s. These 80s are here to stay for a bit! That haze will likely be around once again at least in the morning but the southeast breeze should begin to filter that from our region during the afternoon. StormTracker 59 Travel Forecast Wednesday has a shot at becoming the hottest day of the year so far – Beckley's warmest temperature so far is 84 degrees, and we will make a run into the mid 80s with partly sunny skies and southeasterly wind dragging warmer and dry air into the region once again. Thursday sees a bit of humidity return to the region along with the aforementioned heat, as we see our wind direction begin to change and arrive from the southwest, dragging moist air from the Gulf out ahead of our next system. Once again, high temperatures should have no problem reaching the mid 80s, with a few towns in our western counties likely flirting with 90 degrees on the bank thermometers. We will stay dry but our next system will be approaching. Friday sees a slow-moving cold front approach the region by the afternoon, which will provide the risk for a few scattered showers and storms late in the day. There should still be plenty of dry time during the day, but our weather will become more unsettled the later the day goes. A combination of heat, humidity and marginally unstable air will allow for a few thunderstorms to pop up. Though the severe weather risk overall is low – a strong wind gust or two can't be ruled out along with small hail, with highs in the low 80s. Saturday will be an unsettled day with scattered showers and storms likely as an area of low pressure moves along the aforementioned front that will still be near the region. As a result, the day looks to provide a few chances for storms with highs dipping back into the mid 70s with the abundant clouds and showers that will be expected. A few storms will once again be possible as well. Flag Day: Are you displaying the US flag correctly? Sunday sees Saturday's system scoot down to our south and stall along the North Carolina/Virginia border. The close proximity of that front to our region means we will still see the risk for a few scattered showers and storms with high temperatures in the upper 70s. Looking ahead in your extended forecast, there is no real sign of any big cooldown. Scattered showers will be possible still on Monday and a secondary system will provide the risk for scattered storms Tuesday into Wednesday before we dry out on Thursday. Highs will be in the 70s on Monday with 80s on Tuesday and Wednesday before dipping back into the 70s on Thursday as colder air noses in. TONIGHTMostly clear and cold! Lows in the low sunny. Hazy with the Canadian smoke. Highs in the low sunny. Warm! Still hazy at times. Highs in the low sunny. Summer-like! Highs in the mid sunny. Hot and becoming humid. Highs in the mid late-afternoon storms. Highs in the low to mid and storms likely. Highs in the mid and storms mainly south. Highs in the upper scattered storms, plenty of dry time. Highs in the upper storms. Highs in the low scattered storms. Highs in the low sunny. Highs in the mid 70s. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. The haze from North Africa will leave a thin layer of dust on windows and surfaces in the Canaries, AEMET reported. Tourists have been urged to take precautions, especially those who have respiratory conditions. The temperatures will nonetheless remain pleasant - the maximum temperature on Friday is forecast at around 22 degrees Celsius. These particles irritate the lungs and airways, potentially triggering asthma and allergies. Those who are said to be at greatest risk are children, older people and people with a weakened immune system or existing lung problems. But not only are the Mediterranean countries hit by Saharan dust, on some occasions, the dust has been found to travel to other countries, including the UK. Advertisement Most read in The Sun Exclusive In fact, the Met Office Karen Spillett, deputy head of health advice at Asthma + Lung UK, last month advised people with lung conditions to be cautious and stay indoors. What is a Saharan dust cloud? A Saharan dust cloud is a large mass of dry, dusty air that forms over the Sahara Desert in North Africa. These clouds are made up of tiny sand and mineral particles lifted by strong winds. Once in the atmosphere, the dust can travel thousands of miles. Winds often carry the dust into southern Europe, especially during the spring and summer months. Saharan dust clouds can make the sky hazy, dry out the air and reduce rainfall. They can lower the air quality, irritating lungs and triggering asthma. On a positive note, the dust contains nutrients like iron and phosphorus which helps fertilise rain forests in the Amazon. Horror moment dirty water pipe EXPLODES near tourists' balconies on Costa Del Sol Spillett said: 'If you have a lung condition, especially asthma, you might find that the fine dust particles from the Sahara cause irritation to your lungs. "Fine particles in the air can leave you struggling for breath, and at increased risk of asthma attacks and flare-ups of other lung conditions, like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease." Advertisement She added: "Keep your windows and doors shut if possible and ensure you have your reliever inhaler with you to treat symptoms if you go out. "If you have a lung condition, ensure you take your preventer medication every day as prescribed, follow your asthma action plan and know what to do if you have an asthma attack or flare-up." I experienced Abba Voyage's new show - here's what's different

Abba Voyage celebrated its third anniversary on Tuesday night, and I had the extreme delight of being there to celebrate. The widely acclaimed experience has been running for three years and appears to have been attended by everyone and their mums, and I don't mean figuratively, as the event has become a sweet mother-daughter event bringing together Abba fans of every generation. On Tuesday night, the Pudding Mill Lane arena opened its doors to press and celebrity fans for what can only be described as the best Tuesday night I may have ever had. Some major changes have been made, and while some fans might be sad to learn a song has been dropped from the original set list, they'll be delighted to learn the gig now includes four additional bangers. Name of the Game, Super Trouper, Money, Money, Money and Take a Chance on Me, some of Abba's most beloved hits are now included in the set list, scattered throughout the new lineup. Obviously, these songs are some of the band's most famous, and the addition has somehow made the already perfect and incredibly profitable show even more sublime. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Of course, the flawless production means that every song is unique and with frequent laser and light shows accompanying each song. These additional four hits are no different, with Supertrouper getting some of the loudest applause of the night, and the staging of each feeling fresh and exciting to keep audiences captivated. One change that won't please everybody is the removal of the hit song When All Is Said And Done. While it's a beautiful song and was very much a beloved part of the original lineup, I didn't feel like the show would have improved by keeping it in. The show felt well choreographed and while every fan might have a personal favourite song not in the line-up (for me it' could be's either If It Wasn't For The Nights or Slipping Through My Fingers) the set list is still ace, with a mix of some of the classics and some of the lesser-known hits. The additional songs also mean that the runtime is now 100 minutes rather than 90 minutes, which means fans are getting even more bang for their buck! At the beginning of the concert, I noticed fans taking snaps of people in a box, it was then later announced that the people were none other than former married couple, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid (Frida) Lyngstad from Abba! At the end of the concert, Frida said to the concertgoers: 'Thank you for all of your support over the years. It's hard to imagine that's 50 years or more. I am turning 80 this year! I love you, thank you.' In a statement ahead of the concert, Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Frida said: 'When we first opened, we never imagined that we'd still be in London three years on. 'We're very grateful that so many of you have joined us. Of course, the reason for us being able to sustain our concert for so long is because of our incredible audience. As we say in Sweden… Vilken resa!' As a special post-concert treat for the third anniversary, Benny and Frida were joined by Elvis Costello and Guy Garvey for an intimate performance for invited guests. More Trending Guy sang The Winner Takes It All, while Elvis sang Knowing Me Knowing You, with Benny playing a grand piano for both acoustic performances. The audience, including celebrity guests Richard Osman, Rob Brydon, and Eleanor Tomlinson, all joined in at the chorus and listened in rapture as Benny, 78, commanded the complete attention of the room. While this obviously isn't going to be something that happens at every concert in the future, it was incredible to see the ageing popstars support their digital legacy and 'Abbatars' as they can see with their own eyes how much their catalogue of music continues to have an impact decades on. ABBA Voyage is available to book until January 2026. Got a story? Exclusive Amenities at the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit

The writer was hosted. Picture this: You step into an open-air lobby, with a towering palapa structure protecting you overhead, allowing a cool natural breeze to weave through. Just ahead, there's a panoramic view of an infinity pool overlooking the Banderas Bay. You're kindly ushered to take a seat. Moments later, you're offered a cool towel, chilled champagne, and a shoulder massage with essential oils. That's how the staff greeted my mom and me for our mother-daughter getaway at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. What sets this AAA Five Diamond brand apart from other all-inclusive resorts is their commitment to delivering high-end, quality experiences. From the dining to amenities and service, Grand Velas effortlessly places an emphasis on elegance and luxury. Each day, your private concierge will message you with a list of the daily activities that can be enjoyed around the property, ideal for those wanting to do a little more than just relax poolside. Want more luxury travel ideas? Get inspired with our newsletter! Try Morning Yoga with an Ocean View In the afternoon, attendants will set up nets and encourage guests to join them for a round of volleyball. From my personal observation, beach volleyball attracted more adults, while most water volleyball players had kids and teenagers. Dance to Live Music Each evening approximately around 8PM, guests can enjoy guitarists, live singers, and jazz musicians out on the main terrace. Perfect for those looking to catch some musical vibes with a cocktail in hand before or after their dinner. Relax in the Spa In celebrating my mom's birthday, it's a must to treat her to some well-needed spa time! Recently awarded five stars from Forbes Travel Guide, the SE Spa offers an expansive list of services to choose from, including facials, body wraps, scrubs, and massages tailored to your liking. Before your treatment, you can enjoy water-based amenities, which include whirlpools, cold plunge pools, saunas, and showers. Guests can still enjoy these amenities even if they're not booking a treatment. Bike along the Shores Guests will meet in the lobby for a roundtrip just outside the resort. With safety taking a top priority, your guide will supply you with all the safety gear for a safe trip – helmets, knee pads, and shoulder pads. Azul Breakfast buffet with an ocean view – the perfect way to start the day! Guests can enjoy breakfast buffet items with an elevated twist of luxury – specialty omelets and fajitas can be found in some of the hot action stations, while cold items include salmon, parfaits, and fruits. Also open for lunch time, which guests can fancy themselves a plate and head over to the pool to enjoy. Selva Del Mar Across the pool on the opposite side of Azul you'll find a sit-down lunch space. You can enjoy this casual menu either at the table or served while you're lounging by the pool. This menu also services the beach, where you can take lunch in your private cabana. Frida Paying homage to the beloved artist Frida Kahlo, you'll find dinner offerings with traditional Mexican flavors. With an array of dishes to choose from, guests will also need to save room for dessert (the chocolate mousse with mole sauce…yum!) The dress code is smart casual, so avoid shorts, flip-flops, or beachwear. Because we arrived fashionably late, we missed the sunset out on their balcony, however we enjoyed stargazing with a perfect view of a traditional fire show just below us on the main terrace. Sen Lin Open for dinner, this Asian-inspired restaurant offers dishes such as Vietnamese spring rolls, Pad Thai, miso soup, Korean-style steak, and green curry shrimp. While elegant, Sen Lin also welcomes families, with live music adding to the experience. Much like Frida, you'll want to dress smart casual. Piaf As the famed name suggests, Piaf offers a French-inspired menu. Guests can order dishes such as veal, beef with cabernet sauce, and tender steak. For dessert, you can't go wrong with treats like chocolate cake and crème brûlée. This AAA Four Diamond restaurant has a dress code of elegant-casual, so leave the flip flops and hats in your room. Lucca Found on the same floor as Frida, Lucca offers an Italian-Mediterranean vibe, with ocean views and live music. Signature dishes include lamb chops with creamy carrot polenta, Chilean sea bass with a Sicilian crust, and shrimp and porcini risotto with truffle. "I hope we have an ocean-view room," mom exclaimed. Much to our delight, we did, and we soon found out that all 267 rooms have a view of the ocean, thanks to the intentional architectural design of the resort. The Kahlo family home, a replica of the kitchen and recipes that the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) and her family share with the world WASHINGTON, May 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- This June 2025, Jarritos, the beloved Mexican soft drink brand, proudly presents the third edition of Los Sabores de Mi México. After bringing a preview of the exhibition to Chicago this past May, the cultural experience returns once again, taking visitors on an artistic journey. This extraordinary event will take place at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C., from June 12 to June 21, 2025, open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We combine the magic of Mexico's incredible flavors with recipes from the iconic artist Frida Kahlo (1907–1954), presenting a world where cuisine meets art. A replica of the façade of the Kahlo family home will offer all visitors an opportunity to learn more about the renowned Mexican artist and her family. A major highlight of the event is the unveiling of an exclusive book that reveals treasured family recipes. This publication promises to be a culinary and cultural gem, delighting food lovers, Frida Kahlo fans, and admirers of Mexican flavors alike. "This book connects us to the woman, to the family," said Chef Mónica Patiño. She adds, "To that everyday life—what was eaten in Frida's home, her handwritten recipes… Frida in Coyoacán was always deeply connected to traditional Mexican cooking, which is still alive today." The exhibition will also feature never-before-seen photographs capturing the intimate essence of the Kahlo family. Immerse yourself in the personal and artistic world of this Mexican icon through these unique images. "It is a great honor to share a part of our heritage, of our family's story, with the world," said Mara Romeo Kahlo, Frida Kahlo's great-niece. "We believe that the kitchen is the heart of a home, and we are bringing a gastronomic art book and period pieces to share Frida in a very simple, everyday, and fun way…" Enhancing the experience further, we will showcase ten monumental "Fridas," each reimagined by talented contemporary Mexican artists. These stunning works of art pay homage to the enduring influence of Frida Kahlo in the art world, highlighting her legacy in bold and original ways. The "Paint Your Frida" workshops will offer families and children the chance to express their creativity and inspiration by painting miniature replicas of the monumental sculptures on display—an engaging and artistic hands-on activity. Los Sabores de Mi México not only celebrates the rich cultural and culinary heritage of Mexico, but also, in this edition, pays an unprecedented tribute to one of the country's most important artists and her legacy.
