Basket raffle raises money for local dog pound
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – One local organization hosted a basket raffle fundraiser on Sunday to help dogs find their forever homes.
Friends of Fido held its Brunch and Baskets event at Penguin City Brewing.
Attendees could enjoy a build-your-own breakfast and over 50 basket raffles, which included items like purses and jewelry, lottery tickets and gift cards.
The goal was to raise between $2,000 and $3,000. Proceeds from the event go to the Mahoning County Dog Warden to help with expenses such as medical and training fees.
'The support from the community is invaluable because we have dogs coming into the pound every day and recently, most of them need medical help through no fault of their own,' said Lisa Hill, Mahoning County Dog Warden.
Friends of Fido's next event will be its vendor show, which takes place in April.
