Teen girl hospitalized in hit-and-run outside rural Alberta convenience store
A 15-year-old girl is in hospital after being hit and pinned to a wall by the driver of a truck in St. Paul, Alta., on Saturday.
St. Paul RCMP said in a media release Tuesday officers answered the call of the 3 a.m. incident at the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 5001 52 Street.
Police said they found the injured girl on the ground in front of the 7-Eleven, and that she and the driver of the truck are 'known to each other.'
The driver fled the scene after hitting the girl, police said. Paramedics took her to the University of Alberta hospital with serious injuries, police said.
RCMP said officers took statements from several witnesses.
Police arrested an 18-year-old man from Frog Lake, Alta., and charged him with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, failure to stop after an accident and mischief over $5,000 - damage to property.
St. Paul, population 6,000, is located 152 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
